As I left work the other day, I spotted Allison Morrow across the street from The Pitch's office. She was meeting friends at Nara. Her outfit rocks – I love the combination of her cool boots with an airy cream-colored dress and a dark purple cardigan.
“I’m all about hodgepodge fashion,” she said. She bought her dress (on sale!) at Anthropologie. Her cable-knit cardigan has a row of tiny buttons running down each sleeve cuff, which is a nice detail. Other nice details: The small, semi-sparkly beads that form the rectangular bib outline on her dress; the man-size watch; and the criss-cross straps on her boots.
Her boots are vegan. “I always look for non-leather,” she said. She bought them from Alternative Outfitters, a Web site that sells vegan clothes, accessories and cosmetics.
Allison, 23, lives in New York City and is a copyeditor at the Wall Street Journal. She’s originally from St. Joseph, and she was in town to visit friends. Since we’re hitting that transition period between summer and fall, I asked her strategy for dealing with the fluctuating weather. Her general plan: layering and jackets. “I never leave the house without a cardigan,” she said. That's sound advice.
