The NHL is talking about adding a team. Not to Kansas City or Las Vegas but Toronto.

Wait. Toronto? Don't they already have ... yes, the Maple Leafs. Ugh.

Yesterday, The Globe and Mail reported that NHL suits were gabbing about putting a second franchise in Hogtown.

“Why shouldn't we put another team in the best and biggest market in the world?” the guy with the bullhorn in the picture on the right told the Canadian newspaper.

The move is reportedly a thank-you gift to BlackBerry magnate Jim Balsillie for saving the Nashville Predators.

Supposedly the outfit wouldn't be an expansion team because, as one NHL governor said, “We can't expand because we would be the laughingstock of professional sports. We've got too many troubled franchises. We've got to look at relocating a couple of them.”

The story fails to mention Kansas City, laughingstock magnet.
