Good Morning America returns to Kansas City tomorrow morning. This time, they're not here to broadcast our embarrassment -- codependent Mayor Mark Funkhouser and his sexual-innuendo spewing wife, Gloria Squitiro -- to the rest of the nation.
Tomorrow's GMA unveils Kansas City's holiday window display at the morning show's Times Square studio. Kansas City's Convention & Visitors Association buddied up with
Hallmark Cards to design the window, one of three (this year's lineup
also includes Atlanta and Denver).
The KCC&VA picked up the tab, budgeting $20,000 for the project.
KCC&VA communications director Alan Carr tells me that Hallmark's keepsake ornaments inspired the design for KC's window. Giant ornaments will feature iconic KC scenes, including the Plaza lights, Mayor's Christmas Tree, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the World War I Museum.
Carr expects GMA viewers to see KC's window just before 9 a.m. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver is slated to be in NYC for the big event, when GMA beams a live feed from Crown Center's Ice Terrace, showing people ice skating for free and listening to a brass quintet from the Kansas City Symphony. Taping is from 5:30 to 8:30 a.m. Stupid east coast time schedule.
But hey, as long as Funk and Gloria aren't on the show again, we're relieved. -- Justin Kendall

Nothing makes me more eager to kill myself than watching morning news programs.
Methinks this is a ploy for Hallmark to release their new KC snow globe ornament. The one where Funk's head hits the top of it, Squit is a bulbous snow thing, and there are two black jockeys (standing just outside of the Power and Light background setting) holding lanterns in the foreground with comment bubbles saying, "Ho ho ho", with smirking looks on their faces back at the snow bulb.
Ok, I gotta stop...you can only get so much mileage out of one thing...come on Pitch, gimme something else...I can't take this anymore!!!
