Ever since Hearne Christopher got the axe during The Kansas City Star's last round of layoffs, he's been threatening to start a blog. But his Facebook reveals he might get his column back.
In a January 6 comment, Christopher wrote: "In negos with The Star re a one to two times weekly column. Go figure."
I think he'd be cool with me writing about this since he ran a gossip column.
There's a lot of ways to take this. It could be that McClatchy misses what was supposedly the paper's most read column. Or maybe he doesn't understand Wordpress. If this is the case, negotiating might just mean a series of unreturned, sweaty, late-night phone calls to Mark Zieman.
I am not Christopher's Facebook buddy. He's left it open to the public, which is nice considering that a lot of posts alert you to where he'll be drinking during the the day.
The thing reads like a checklist of those Signs You're an Alcoholic pamphlets:
Hearne is tuning up for a Long Island Iced Tea power lunch with soon-to-bail Mix 93.3 deejay Kelly Urich.
Hearne is drinking lunch with Zoo Czar Bob Lewellen and Chris and Andy Lewellen of Lew's in Waldo....
Hearne is wondering how it is I did shots of Jim Beam last night at Record Bar with piano man extraordinaire Mark Lowrey.
Thanks, Hearne, for letting us know when to avoid those bars.

At least it's sort of a manly subject as you qoute it. I'm not looking anyway. I did try Twitter because of the guy Plog mentioned covering the trial in Wichita. Now THATS some fresh blogging.
