The K gets a bowl lift

The Blue Ridge Cutoff is not one Kansas City's most desirable addresses. What the Royals and Chiefs lack in location, they make up for in acreage. With room to grow, the teams are using the $625 million renovation of the Truman Sports Complex to bump out the stadiums' concourses and add new shops, concession stands and, in the case of the Royals, a barbecue stand beyond right field.

The Royals invited the media to take a hard-hat tour of Kauffman Stadium yesterday. Some of the most dramatic changes are being made beyond the outfield fences, where the team is installing a hall of fame, a bar with a big-ass plasma and vantage points from which fans won't need a ticket to soak in the atmosphere. Of course, there's always the charge to park. (Click here for a slide show.) -- David Martin

One or both of these venues should be in downtown KC. And, it's pointless to point out that a lot of tax money is going to two of the worst teams in their respective leagues.
