KMBC anchor Larry Moore and his wife, Ruth, are fighting to recoup some medical expenses in the federal government's "Vaccine Court," Moore wrote today on his KMBC web page. I didn't realize that Ruth Moore was paralyzed after receiving a flu shot three years ago.

Viewers always ask how she is doing and I always have trouble answering

because life is so different today. Basically, Ruth has learned to

cope, to understand that things will never be the same again, and that

through extensive physical therapy she is able to navigate her way

around without feeling.

Moore explains that Congress set up Vaccine Court about 20 years ago to bring "together patients who are injured by vaccines and

government overseers to provide some relief to patients who may have

been injured with judgments made by a judge master who oversees the

proceedings."

Moore, one of the good guys in KC, writes it'll be several months before any decision is made.

"Who knows what type

of decision will be made," Moore writes. "We do have some hope. The judge master could

have dismissed our case and thrown it out, but he didn't, so we could

still get some help."

Best of luck to the Moores.
