ESPN's telling anyone thinking Herm Edwards might be gone to checkity check yourself before you wreck yourself. "A source" drops knowledge on Michael Smith that a Herm Edwards return hasn't be ruled out ... for at least one more year. Supposedly new general manager Scott Pioli is coming in with "an open mind" and apparently Clark Hunt "prefers that Edwards remain the coach." Aww, damn it. At least we'll know by the end of the week.
If Edwards gets canned, one name out there is New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spanguolo. Another getting mentioned is Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, although Smith's source says Hunt isn't too keen on a college coach. The Des Moines Register's Sean Keeler breaks down the pros and cons of a Ferentz jump.
David Martin is going to the presser this afternoon, so we'll know a little more later. -- Justin Kendall

Ohhh, a "not" crackback. Why not throw in a waaaasssuuuup or a Spuds McKenzie comment while you are at it? Crikey, dood, you are so stuck in suckville KCMO that even your SMAK has gone stagnant.
Edwards was not the problem. The human-hair-storm was the problemhe purposely packaged the crappiest thing possible and folks continued to show up and pay him for it. Now that Peterson is gone, what is wrong with allowing Pioli the time to do his job?
Trevor youre so clever, NOT. I guess you're a Jayhawk fan from the condescending tone in your post. But this isnt about KCMO or Jayhawks. It is about Herm Edwards embarrassing the City and all Chiefs fans the last 2 years. There is tons of excitement and the fans will be back, unless we keep Edwards, then you have just popped the ballon for all of us that want the Chiefs to be competitive. It is normal to lose games by a touchdown or less 45% of the losses happen that way. Stop reaching to try and give Herm a pass on his job. He decided not to get a real quarter back, he decided not to get free agents, and he can not manage a game to save his life.
See what the Missouri side does to people like podunkboy? The second what may or may not be a small crack is perceived, they throw up their hands in surrender. This is a shining example of the hopelessness that is KCMO.
Let me make it simple for you KC Missourians, you have a new sheriff in town. When things get better (something I know most KC Missourians have never observed) it isnt a quantum leap to excellenceit is a steady, but fast climb. Assuming the KCMO government doesnt attack Pioli like they do any other outsider that comes in and tries to make things better, the Chiefs are bound to improve with or without Herm Edwards.
You have a right to be skeptical. But, not everyone is like KC Missourians. Often, folks not of KCMO climb the ropes given to them rather than immediately hanging themselves.
Also, what is worse, letter-number man not getting the joke or Justin having to explain it? Maybe we ought to keep the rope away from KC Missourians for a while?
Just when I thought I could pull my Chiefs shirts out of mothballs. Herm stays, I spend another football seaon watching figure-skating and rodeo...or NFC matchups only.
