I just read City Manger Wayne Cauthen's comments about the city intensifying its effort to lure an NHL or NBA team to Kansas City over the summer. The Kansas City Business Journal reported that Cauthen told The Central Exchange that the city was waiting for the leagues' offseasons. Why wait? "They're not going to give you the time of day" during the season," Cauthen said. Uh, wait a second, Wayne. The last NBA franchise to move -- the Seattle SuperSonics -- filed to relocate to Oklahoma City in November. At the start of the season. And Sonics' owners Clay Bennett had to notify the NBA that he was moving the team in March. So get crackin'.

If they are looking to "house" an NBA / NHL team, maybe some of that sweet stimulus HUD money could help? Nadia reports KCMO has a good history of being able to work those funds for who knows what.
Then, they could just use that money to refinance the Kays Cancer Problems & Legacy bonds.
Why bless his little heart. Still trying to give away more money the city doesn't have.
A city without an NBA franchise is like a fish without a bicycle.
Oh wait, maybe ol' Wayne will hire a director of finding failing sports franchises to help him out in this task.
