First, they hit Hyde Park in December. Monday night, some lazy revolutionaries rose once again in Kansas City. The tiresome vandals spray-painted "Stop Genocide" and an anarchy symbol on the Pioneer Mother statute inside Penn Valley Park.
I ran over there this morning to snap a few photos of the damage.
Three city workers had just finished scrubbing away "Stop Genocide"
as best they could. One of the guys told me they had to
wait until today, when the temperature warmed up, to keep their
cleaning solution from freezing. The man said he and his crew had managed to get the
anarchy symbol off the horse's leg, but they'd have to come back to
finish removing the "Stop Genocide" message, which was still visible
from the base of the statue.
You know what? We totally should stop genocide, and we should totally start the effort in Kansas City. Thanks for cluing me in, city-money-wasting anarchists! But if I see you in action, I'm calling the cops and then I'm calling your mothers.

You are all fools. This is great next time ill just make sure this statue you all care about so much, is completely demolished!!!!!!
A couple points (as if they matter).
Elementary School: This is the institution used to convince the mind into thinking the system we have is fair and decent.
Wasted Tax Dollars: The cost of cleaning a statue compared to the money spent on its creation.
Empathy: I love the comments on how wrong the behavior was of the vandals, while complementing their statements with name calling. Really, who are the delinquents?
"Man was born free, but everywhere he is in chains." --Jean-Jacques Rousseau
this statue is a glorification of a profit motivated, expansion of westernism and the destruction of culture. i for one applaud this small revolutionary step towards a truly humane world. FREE YOUR MIND. SMASH THE STATE
Media has brainwashed everyone, (even the kids who did this) to misunderstand anarchy as a whole.
At least they did something as a stand for what they believe in, however misguided it may be. When is the last time any of you took a moment to do anything for what you believe in and mobilize your self?
And on another note... anarchy is about being responsible for yourself and what you believe in, no matter what the level (individual, community, or national). So why call the cops and perpetuate the oppressive police state we live in? Calling the parents, or organizing the immediate community affected by above vandalism is the correct course of action. Calling the cops is immediate removal of responsibility from yourself to the police, when the people that did the vandalism took it upon themselves to do so.
you know why i love trevor????
oh, wait. i don't!!
(or maybe i do. its a day to day thing.)
You know why I lurve guz? Because he tells anarchists to organize, and when you can make an oxymoron make sense, that means you deserve lurve.
I also lurve Tom. How else can someone take so abstract an act of vandalism and call it "clear" and "undeniable". His Plog innocence is so pure and fresh out of middle school.
Tom
What moral and ethical statement were these meat puppets trying to make when they defaced the grotto at a nearby church? Would it be a protest against the hundreds of poor people who rely on that church for basic living essentials? Would it be a rebellion against the multitude of hispanics who light candles for loved ones while searching for some small comfort in their faith? What change could they possibly expect to make? I say they are just a bunch of clowns playing rebel, and masking their sociopaths tendencies under the guise of being Anarchists. Anarchists, meh, more like scumbags. I say fuck em and anyone who thinks like em. Put that in your diversity pipe and smoke it.
hey Tom! Maybe anarchists should organize and present their ideas to the public in a manner that is persuasive and meaningful..... or maybe they could just be assholes.
Um, if these "anarchists" are so deep and thoughtful to vandalize a statue that so clearly represents genocide, why did they vandalize a simple marker that indicates that you are entering Jensen Place?
Ah Jensen place is such a hateful place, right?
Wow, you all know very little of your own history. Did you go to one of the Shawnee Mission schools (Shawnee Mission was a re-education camp for the native survivors of genocide at the hands of those who started your city!)
Or more recently than that, how about Bleeding Kansas. Ring a bell?
These anarchists are clearly pointing out the we have a statue memorializing people (and, more importantly, a system) that was responsible for mass genocide. That is truly undeniable.
If you want to laugh and and call them "silly", then you are going out of your way to ignore the fact that you are currently, at this moment, enjoying the fruits of genocide.
I'm not saying you have to live your lives in paralyzing guilt, but think before you go on a completely ignorant rant against some people who were compelled to make a statement about the vicious deaths of millions of people, some of whom used to hunt right where you are sitting as you write.
Oh, no! A couple of KC shitbags want us to stop the massacre of innocents! Abort mission! Abort! Now commence Operation Celebrate Our Differences!
