In the last decade, HIV infection rates among black men and women in the metro, and especially in Jackson County, have exploded so quickly that Good Samaritan Project officials found it comparable to sub-Saharan Africa. Any city in a developed nation receiving such a distinction should be ashamed of itself. Tomorrow's National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness day, so here's some ways to get involved.
The Douglas County AIDS Project is providing free walk-in testing today at the United Way Building for Human Services at 2518 Ridge Road, Suite 101, in Lawrence. They'll do it again Tuesday at the University of Kansas Student Union. For information, call 785-843-0040.
Also starting this month and running through March, churches will hold revival services every Wednesday and special events to help get the word out. Catch the next service Wednesday, February 11, at Third Street Church of God, 1907 N. 3rd St. in KCK. In our 2008 story, "Change Is Gonna Come," we told you how the T.I.P.S. program and churches across the metro were working to raise awareness in arenas that once considered it a taboo subject. That included preachers who once told their flock that HIV was God's punishment for a life of sin. Let's make sure the ministers that are standing up now know we're listening.

Quite a provocative, if not very accurate opening statement there, comparing HIV "infection" rates in KC's black community to sub-Saharan Africa. I don't even know where to start.
Histrionic charges have been universally tied to HIV and AIDS "information" campaigns since Day 1. Keep the masses a-tremblin' and they'll be less likely to ask troubling questions.
Some things to balance the perspective presented here:
First, go to the KCMO Health Department's own website and read the Kansas City 2007
Epidemiologic Profile for yourself. Do you see any charts that portray an epidemic increase in rate of HIV "infection"? I don't either.
Secondly, understand what IS being counted here: so-called "positive" results of a test for some poorly defined proteins that are claimed to be antibodies to a virus that's never been isolated and purified.

There are reasons the AIDS industry, including the KCMO Health Department, want and need to stir up fear of an impending explosion of AIDS in the black community. Not least of these is funding, and if there's one thing you can count on from a church, it's that they'll be holding out a collection plate. AIDS and religion mixed like rum and coke.
Real viruses don't discriminate based on race, gender or sexual orientation. However, HIV apparently does. Search Henry Bauer's website for "HIV and Race" to research the racism inherent in HIV theory, including the fact that people of recent African heritage test "HIV-positive" many times more often than others.
The author is no doubt well-intentioned, but articles like these are nothing more than propaganda broadsides to soften the masses to submit to the AIDS industry's lucrative "social services" machines for "treatment".
The same shrill cries of alarm about a heterosexual epidemic were raised a decade ago to help ensure the flow of public and private funding. Now that it is obvious that plague hasn't (and won't) develop, they are trying to stir the shit in the African-American community to keep the fear alive.
What the African-American community needs to be more aware of is the incredible propaganda campaign to get as many of them as possible onto expensive, toxic drugs they don't need.
Shame, indeed.
