The Pitch has learned that the meaty hunk of cougar bait disqualified from magazine 435 South's "Most Eligible Bachelors" auction is 42-year-old Chris Campbell. The magazine identifies him in its February issue as a "regional manager -- Central U.S. Strategic Alliances; Red Hat Inc."
The "signature monthly publication of southern Johnson County" (says the magazine's Facebook profile) punted Campbell after receiving an e-mail tip that he wasn't so eligible.
According to a post today on the Bottom Line Communications Web site, 435 South selected Campbell for last night's charity event before learning that, as Bottom Line reports, he is apparently locked in a messy divorce and child-custody battle.
Kathy Boos, publisher of 435 South, told Bottom Line that Campbell faxed a divorce decree to the magazine. Boos said her staff was unable to find a record of the divorce having become final.
Campbell has been removed from the list of bachelors on the 435 South Web site, but a Google search returns his profile.
In 435's Q&A with Campbell, he says the one word to describe him is "authentic."
