Last chance to run red lights at 39th Street and Southwest Trafficway -- for free

Posted by Justin Kendall on Fri, Feb 20, 2009 at 8:52 AM

We used to call running all the stop signs -- and our town's one stoplight -- "hell runs" in high school. And today's your last chance for a freebie hell run at West 39th Street and Southwest Trafficway. After midnight, you're gonna get a ticket if you run the red lights at the intersection.

Earlier this week, The Star explained how the cameras work. Blah, blah, blah, sensors. Blah, blah, blah, video images. All you need to know is that if you run the light, you're going to get a $138 ticket. Unless the car isn't yours. Then go ahead. You're in the clear.

Also, watch out for cameras at these intersections by the end of March:

  • West 79th and Wornall
  • East 63rd and Prospect
  • 39th and Main
  • East 19th and Walnut
  • 27th and Southwest Trafficway
KSHB Channel 41 has a handy map of where the cameras will be watching.

I haven't heard anything about a "warning period," so keep your eyes peeled and the hammer down. Hell run!
