Living in a shipping container in Brookside

First, Apartment Therapy showed us Mission, Kansas' extremely cool dome (who knew there was a video production company in there?). Now, they have photos of a soon-to-be-finished cargo container home in Brookside. Apartment Therapy tells us the shipping-container-turned-house is Debbie Glassberg's eco-friendly idea -- "geothermal heat, soy foam insulation and bamboo flooring." She's getting help from BNIM Architects. When the place is finished -- should be done by the end of May -- it'll be a about 2,000-square feet with two bedrooms and a big home office.

Click here for more photos of the place.

Wonder if this could be a sign of things to come - they have been using shipping containers in vancouver and london as low-cost housing for a while now. We may see more container homes popping up around the country.

This home is in Brookside, not Waldo. I pass by it on my way to work. I like it! It spices up the neighborhood.

I lived in a shipping container for 9 months in Afghanistan. It didn't have bamboo floors and soy-foam insulation. It did however, have sand-bags on the roof.

Looks like the Nelson-Atkins annex to me.
