Keith Brown worked tirelessly from 2005 to 2007 to see his son Jawanza acquitted of murder charges in April 2007. But just eight months after a Jackson County jury read the words "not guilty" and Jawanza danced down the courtroom's hall, 19-year-old Jawanza was back in handcuffs, accused of a new shooting.
He opened fire on two men who'd honked at him from a car on the 2600 block of East 11th Street, according to the details of a trial that wrapped up yesterday. The men, plus a witness, testified that Jawanza was the one who shot them, hitting one man in the chest, the other in the mouth, shoulder and back.

I know through personal experience Minister (hahaha) Keith Brown is a racist of the first caliber. He always preaches what he never practices and it's only though hinky family and community connections that he's had the career opportunities (which he blew) he was given. He's mean-spirited and holier-than-thou. He's had several extra-marital affairs and when they ended he tried to publically humiliate his former lovers by circulating anonymous letters to neighbors, coworkers and members of his church. He should have been tending to his own flock of upcoming thug children rather than blaming white people for all the evils in Kansas City. When he was director of Project Neighborhood - a Robert Woods Johnson-funded social service agency, he'd mock the funders and when they were around he would put on disgusting dog-and-pony show displays that the liberal funders believed hook, line and sinker. "Minister" Keith Brown is nothing but a thug wrapped up in the monikker of being a man of God. He is no such thing - and his offspring prove it.
I would like to thank Mr. Brown for digging up all of the "facts" in this case for the defense.
Without Mr. Brown's unbiased search for the truth and witnesses to clear his innocent son, he would not have been able to spend another 2 years of quality time with Jawanza.
Just wanted to share a couple of my favorite lines from your first article about this:
"When the verdict came down, Antonio's mother was the first to cry. "He's a killer! Ask his mother! He killed my son, and now he's going to kill somebody else!""
"Charging Jaronn or anyone else in the homicides, Brown said, would mean that the prosecutor would have to admit that he was wrong to have gone after Jawanza. "And he's not the kind of man to admit he was wrong," Brown said of Harrell."
Well, she did not try the case. Why don't you get off your ass and go over to the courthouse and take 30 seconds watching the trial. The MAN that tried the case was Kevin, not Teresa.
Your fact in the story was just wrong, print a correction.
Case info from the courthouse reads:
