Friends of Budreau and Eli gathered last night at 59th and Forest.Homicide Detective Rob Blehm said that several items -- "nothing
substantial" -- were stolen in the 2 p.m. shooting, but he didn't know
whether robbery was the motive.
There were no signs of forced entry to the apartment, which is on
the top floor of a house that had been renovated into two apartments.
That could mean that the victims knew their killers or the door was
unlocked, Blehm said.
Bring candles, drums, signs, sage and whatever else feels good to you. The police will be on patrol for our safety (so save the 420 festivities for a later time) and the news stations will be informed. We will depart at sunset silently in honor of Andrew and Justin.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the victims and defendants families. They all have lost their sons, obviously two families have lost their sons more tragically, but it's life changing for all the families. And to the people who have chosen to write cruel and awful things about the boys who have lost their lives, show respect. No one deserves what happened to Andrew and Justin, and it's already upsetting that it did happen, but don't try to change peoples thoughts and memories about them.

Never said Andrew hasn't been in trouble before but he did NOT die because of wires and what did you call it being a NARC. He had someone else in that house that probably caused this to take place. Not that he wanted this to happen but when you go around running your mouth the way he does and bringing people into your home you don't know and start running your mouth especially in the hood where they will kill there own family for $5 this is what happens.
Didn't know Justin well but met him a couple of times but I loved Drew and still do and I miss him terribly.

hmm...actually, if you would reference my first post (which actually wasnt my first, because my true first post was deleted even though it contained the exact same information) THERE WAS A REASON i wasnt friends with either of the ELI'S, BC one of my very good friends was busted with a pipe...he bought it and... The very next day he gets busted at school, not doing anything wrong...gets called outta class and an undercover police officer is able to describe his pipe to a T!!!! (even though it was only like an inch long and VERY small and skinny) Described the colors, the design, everything...and claimied he had seen it the day before whilst he was driving around....the popo claimed he could see a 1 inch pipe from another moving vehicle and was able to describe it in great detail...but wait, my friend had showed it to alex just the day before to "show it off" if you will....hmm....kinda makes you scratch your head until you think about how many people around the ELI's got BUSTED and somehow neither of the eli's ever got busted with anything serious even though they were the ones bringin the shit in half the time...sorry but i was raised not be be a dumbass when it comes to the game...lets see here, how many people can i name off the top of my head from years ago that were busted around the eli's that shouldntve been....theres NATE, STEVE, and MYSELF...not to mention the 10 or 20 some others that id have to think about awhile to come up with their names, its been so long and ive gotten myself outta the game so long ago that i havent thought about it in years.

Andrew was a wonderful person and just because he smoked weed doesn't mean he caused this to happen. Justin smoked to and it wasn't his fault either. Your NARC theory is a bunch of lies. Sorry if my previous post offends anyone, but i think its sick that andrew was WORKING for the police, MAYBE even at the VERY TIME he was killed, and the police will NEVER come out and admit that to anyone. Its sickening. THEY are ultimately responsible for these two deaths, but youll NEVER hear about it...and both my previous post and this one will probably be deleted for the information that they contain...just like my previous post was deleted about a month ago because it contained the same information. I truly do miss justin, and it is truly sad that andrew was killed, but i just think that people should know the truth behind what happened. Beyond that, if youre an adult, who is living in johnson county and you know that your child is smoking weed or doing drugs, either beat the shit outta them and send them to boot camp, or give them a safe environment to smoke in, because when they go out smokin and drivin around, they get caught...and when they get caught...IF they know any BIG dealers...they get the offer to snitch/wear a wire and get off scott free. They take that offer because theyre so AFRAID of what theyre parents are going to do, AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! make sure your children know, that if they are ever caught breaking the law, and are offered a deal that involves them snitching on ANYONE else, that they know NOT TO DO IT because you never know who your messin with, and this could quite possibly be the outcome.
someone deleted my comment from like a month ago.....it is VERY sad that the lives of ANYONE could be taken in such a cruel and inhumane way. I went to school with both andrew and justin. Justin was a WONDERFUL person. VERY friendly, always outgoing and positive. Andrew i didnt know so well and there was a reason for that. Andrew Eli was a NARC!!! I know for a FACT...FACT...FACT...that both andrew and his younger brother were both NARCS for the shawnee PD going back to at least 4-5 years ago, and up until who knows when, maybe the very day that these two peoples lives were taken. But the point is, Andrew snitched on the wrong person, some people were comin over for a drug deal, and andrew knew that these people knew the person or people that he ratted out...so he called justin for "backup," if you will, hoping that with another person present, it would deter the possibility of anything happening. But instead, another life was taken because of one persons bad and selfish decisions in the past. Im not tryin to start trouble, but theres a reason that they were murdered the way they were...face down, in the back of the head........HELLO PEOPLE!?!?!?!?!?! THATS HOW N A R C S GET DEALT WITH in the city. I dont know what level of involvement Justin had in what had happened leading up to this event, but it is my personal opinion that he was just someone trying to be a friend and help another person out by being present to make sure that person wasnt killed. My condolences go out to the families and friends of the victims. This is just a horrible tragedy. There is a lot of anger out there, and anger is justifiable, but please don't make it into a racial issue.

Please contact the prosecutor's office and other elected officials, and tell them that cold-blooded murderers should never walk free.
This is a prime example of why marijuana should be legalized in the US. I honest to God don't smoke the stuff myself, but I have in the past and I can tell you first hand that the effects of marijuana pale in comparison to those of alcohol, yet it is legal. So the "inebriating effects" can't be the arguement from those who oppose it.
If this were a legal substance this nonsense wouldn't be happening - If you could go to the corner store and buy it just like you buy a pack of cigarettes, innocent people wouldn't be getting killed for it. Have you ever heard of someone getting senselessly shot over a pack of Camels? Hell no you haven't, not only that, but you wouldn't have the added stress of this bad economy because the US Government could heavily tax it just like they do tobacco and pay off a very large portion of the US debt. It would create new jobs, stimulate economic growth, ease the pain of those who need it for medicinal purposes free up prison space and lower the crime rate all at once. (While allowing the police to spend their time trying to stop and catch murderers like these instead of trying to catch people for smoking pot.
These two guys were killed by two thugs who have no respect for life, and even though it turned into a robbery. The whole reason it started was because someone wanted to smoke some weed. If they would have just been able to go to the corner store to buy some instead of having to go to someones house, Andrew and Justin would still be here today and these families wouldn't be torn apart.
America needs to stop thinking about what is "socially frowned upon" and start thinking about what is better for us, for the American people. RIP guys, even though you were taken from us too early, you are in a better place.
I miss them both. Morgan is right. Focus on the facts that they both were wonderful people and that they deserve to be remembered for the beautiful things that they have done.
I am a little disppointed that this is the information you choose to share with the public. OMG so Justin (I didn't really know Andrew) smoked weed, more people do than you think. Why do you feel that this is information to share? Two innocent young men are dead. Two loving families are grieving. Two heartless men ended young lives with a few gun shots. Why are you trying to draw attention away from the important parts of the story. Imagine these men were your brothers. Wouldn't you want the focus to be on mourning their loss and celebrating their lives? Sometimes, as a journalist, you have to make the decision to respect others, rather than further yourself.
