One man is dead and another is recovering after a shooting last night. Around 9 p.m., Kansas City police found two men with gunshot wounds inside the Express Mart, 7007 Longview Rd.
Police say 17-year-old Rashad Taylor died from his injuries. The other victim, whose name isn't being released, is expected to recover.
No suspects are in custody. Anyone with tips should call 816.474.8477.

The thread that announces the arrest of the suspect has been closed (with just cause), so I'll leave my thoughts here.
My heart has been heavy since I learned of Rashad's death. While I had not spent a lot of time with him or his brother recently, I do remember them being "thick as thieves" when they were little boys. Back then, they both absolutely loved one another, and by the sound of it, they still did. Rashad (or Shaddy as he was called then) was THE sweetest little boy, but Rodte used to give me H.E.L.L. - LOL! But, I loved their father, so I loved them just the same.
This was a senseless death that did not have to happen. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to Rashad's father, his paternal grandparents, his uncles and the entire the Taylor family.
When are you young men and women going to wake up? Your life is not worth all this nonsense! If indeed Rashad died and Rodte was shot over some little nappy-headed girl, then it goes way beyond being stupid - it's tragic. Don't you realize that there is a world out there waiting for you to discover? Why are you limiting yourselves to all this negativity that puts you in danger and at-risk of dying? Do you understand that at 17 or 18 or 19 you have not even begun to live? You might think you grown and know everything, but trust me, YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT. I'm not trying to put anyone down or be disrespectful, I'm just telling you the straight-ass truth. Dropping out of school, having babies as teenagers and living your life in the "fast lane" has proven time and time again that it will get you nowhere except stuck in po-dunk ass Kansas City with no future.
I challenge all of you who loved, cared and called Shaddy your "friend" to HONOR HIS MEMORY BY DOING SOMETHING POSITIVE. What that might be, I have no idea but take your negative, revengeful attitudes and direct that energy into something positive. I know its hard to do when there is so much "hatin'" goin' on, but you don't have to reduce yourself to that B.S.! I know you want to beat the hell outta whoever this girl is, or you want to take revenge out on associates of Rashad's killer but trust and believe, both their lives will be a living hell from now on (and you don't have to do a damned thing to make that happen)
Rashad's death can be either one of two things:
1) the catalyst to start a positive change or;
2)the start of your own destruction.
The choice is up to you - which do you choose?

I was so shocked to hear of this news. Rashad was a great young man, always very respectful to me. Although he was typically tired in the mornings when i saw him, when he smiled it could light up a room. I will be praying for all of his friends and family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart goes out to this family I met this young man and his brother...They are some very intelligent and respectable young men.
Who could be so evil why take away someones child and cause this family a lot of pain.
Why should this person get to wake up and walk this earth....The Ruskin area has gone way down People wake up and fight for your community and save another young man life before it is too late.
I remember changing Rashad's diaper when we was just a baby. It's so sad that we have resorted to handling anger by taking a life.
