This is Ricky Brooks.
Jackson County prosecutors charged him with lighting up Westport with an assault rifle early Sunday morning. Court records say the shooting occurred around 2:40 a.m. after an argument between two women inside America's Pub, which continued in the Chili's parking lot near Westport Road and Mill Street, when a man entered the fray. Court records say the man retrieved a rifle from the trunk of a car and shot at least six rounds into a Suburban containing one of the women. One guy got shot in the leg, shattering his femur. The gunshots sent hundreds of people running and witnesses pointed to a green Chevy Caprice and fingered 30-year-old Brooks as the shooter. Police stopped the car and arrested Brooks after a short foot chase. Brooks allegedly had an assault rifle in his lap. Prosecutors charged Brooks with unlawful use of a weapon (drive-by shooting), three counts of assault and three counts of armed criminal action.
