Seriously. Who else could baseball possibly name pitcher of the month? Not even going to name anyone else. No one is more worthy than the Royals' Zack Greinke. Yesterday, Major League Baseball named Greinke April's American League Pitcher of the Month.

Behold Greinke's awesomeness in April:

  • Greinke is 5-0.
  • His ERA is a ridiculous .50, allowing only two earned runs on 24 hits.
  • He's struck out 44 batters and walked eight.
  • He leads all of baseball in wins, complete games, ERA and strikeouts.
  • He shut out the Texas Rangers on April 18.
  • He didn't melt down.
  • His girlfriend is hot.
Try not to hyperventilate -- or get turned on. Greinke's hurling earned him a trophy and a Sharp Aquos TV. They gave him a TV? What year is this? 1985? Hope so.

Stats are not current and don't include Monday's shutout- author probably pulled them from the April POM press release.

From Joe Posnanski's blog:

There have been 8 complete games thus far in the AL.

Greinke has 3 of them.

There have been two complete game shutouts in the AL.

Greinke has BOTH of them.

His ERA+ is 1173. This is a stat geek's way of saying he has been 11.73 times better than an average AL pitcher.
