For those of you looking for a friend, or who just want to help someone through a rough spot in their life, check out lostvault.com. The Web site is sort of a match.com for the lonely and incarcerated, but in this case you know the worst about them upfront. The juxtaposition among the pleas for friendship, the mug shots and the criminal offenses can be everything from sad to banal to unintentionally funny.
For instance, here's Tim Roberts.
"A little about me, I love the outdoors especially the mountains as well as exploring new areas and new places," Roberts writes. "I enjoy sports and all types of recreational activities. Also, I take pride in my physical fitness and respect the same quality in others."
There are less than 200 advertisements by women compared to thousands of guys. For those of you interested in a lady, here's Erin Fraser, 29, who is serving time on a conspiracy conviction. Depending on which of her profiles you believe, she's either serving out her sentence in Kansas City or New Century, Kansas. Fraser isn't as descriptive of herself as Roberts, but she's a lot easier on the eyes.
"I'm looking for someone to correspond with - a friend," she writes. "I'm most attracted to one's intellect. Physical characteristics are not what intrigues me. I've always been easygoing, always open to new ideas. What are you looking for? Maybe we should talk..."
You have to admit, that's a pretty good pic for an inmate.
