A 10-year-old girl claims that another student raped her in a classroom Monday at George Washington Carver Elementary School (4600 Elmwood Ave.).
An incident report taken by the Kansas City Police Department gives these details: The alleged rape happened after a teacher left the students alone in his classroom. The male student allegedly locked the classroom door, took the girl into a corner, reached down the girl's pants and touched her vagina. Then he asked if he could put his penis in the girl's mouth. She said no and tried to leave the room, but the male student tried to wrap his arms around her. The girl fell over a chair, and the male student allegedly pulled down the girl's pants and raped her. The victim told her teacher, but he supposedly blew it off and told her to "stop tattling."
The victim's aunt told police that a rape kit examination was taken and "doctors observed vaginal bruising."
KSHB Channel 41 reports that the teacher has been "reassigned."

Susan says:
The boy who alledgedly did this
needs counselling as well. He may have been privy
to that kind of abuse also, and just acting out what
he saw or what was done to him.
The Teacher should be prosecuted for not following up on the girl's complaint.
I hope they make a strong example out of this ignorant boy.
More so, I hope she doesn't empower this. I hope she doesn't let this keep her from reaching her full potential.
Perhaps an expedited and protective track is appropriate in juvenile offenses such as this, where the process may be more damaging and traumatic than the actual offense.
