Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback's been on an all-out media tour recently, talking about how Gitmo detainees should stay in Gitmo. Here's his most recent video, on location:
Which just makes me want to keep pointing out that Brownback and other politicians keep harping on the fact that "to keep America safe" we need to keep our prisoners of war offshore, they insult the very defense industry they're supposedly so proud of. Sure, the idea of housing terrorists at Ft. Leavenworth is a little scary, but what the hell's a state-of-the-art military prison for, senator? C'mon. Are we really such pussies that we can't handle the toughest cases?

Being a U.S. solider isn't about bravado and taking unnecessary risks.
There is no valid reason to close Gitmo.
It is secure, off-shore, and poses no threat to U.S. citizens.
The argument that Muslims "believe" or "feel" Gitmo is a horrid place is a GOOD thing. It didn't fuel this war, it didn't initiate terrorism - the Quran, hadiths, and hatred for non-Muslims has been there since day 1 of Islam.
But even if you want to use it as an excuse for closing Gitmo - exactly what do you think bringing those prisoners to the U.S. will do to change that? Nothing. In fact it will only give them more targets on U.S. soil and more reasons to attack us, protest, recruit gang bangers & drug dealers into Islam, and who knows what else.
It's too late though as Obama is brining his first Al Qaeda member to the US - he'll announce it tonite.
See, its fools like you who write this type of article that are attacking Brownback just because you don't like him. Wake up!!! Even Queen Sebelius was against Gitmo prisoners in Kansas!!!!! In fact, she even wrote a letter to Obama stating her opposition. Your article is just plain stupid. "uh.. yeah.. put the Taliban in my back yard. I'm ok with it." Go smoke your mary jane somewhere else. I hear Pakistan is nice this time of year.
