I was a little puzzled when I found this fax from NHL 21 on the machine this afternoon.
"NHL 21 is keenly aware of the Phoenix Coyotes bankruptcy situation. We stand ready, willing and able to assist at the appropriate time with the future search for ownership of an NHL club member in Kansas City at Sprint Center, when so deemed appropriate by the NHL Board of Governors. Currently NHL 21 is focused on the LA Kings vs New York Islanders game at Sprint Center September 22 this coming fall," said Paul McGannon President of NHL 21.I wasn't up to speed on the Coyotes and pretty much stopped listening after billionaire Blackberry maker Jim Balsillie stood up, sacks of money in hand, and offered to buy the team and move it to Ontario. But the NHL wasn't too hot on selling the team to an owner with, you know, money or moving the team where fans might actually care about hockey. So the NHL and Coyotes are in mediation to see who gets to control the bankrupt franchise and possibly auction it off. They'll be back in court June 22 to figure out this mess.

Anyone who thinks KC doesn't have a large number of hockey fans doesn't know anything about KC and it's fans desire for a team. KC has been the #1 city when it comes to viewership of non-NHL franchised cities. Viewership has grown drastically in the last few years and the desire to bring a team back to the ice in KC has never been stronger.
It's time KC gets a hockey franchise again.
Will NHL 21 participate in the public auction for the Phoenix Coyotes on Sept. 10th? All bids will be accepted. Here is a real chance to secure an NHL team. The NHL is not going to give an expansion team to KC ahead of places like Hamilton, Ontario and Las Vegas,NV.
Come on KC, step up and take action.
I would be curious to know: What percentage of Kansas Citians can name the four teams still alive in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? How about the NBA playoffs?
Yeah, my Sprint Center conspiracy theory shows no signs of being refuted any time soon.
