It wasn't long ago that we gave you an update on the Kansas City School District's former super Anthony Amato. The short version: flaunt huge unearned ego, spend vast sums of money on tests with no proven value, leave for new job under black cloud of district resentment, repeat process at new school.
It seems the cycle's winding down again, because the people at Amato's current school, Stockton United, are through taking his crap and started calling for his removal. You can read all about it at United for a Student Centered SUSD's blog. The site throws around a lot of charges -- perhaps the worst have to do with just where Amato decided to spend federal stimulus money. Here's the money line: "The karma you have brought from three other districts of wounded people is choking you."
The blog's worth looking at for a vision of what might have been. The scary thing is, there are a whole lot of crappy supers like Amato who make their living working the urban school circuit and jumping to another gig just before shit hits the fan. Let's hope our school board made the right choice with the new guy.

There are also superintendent headhunters who recycle the same crappy candidates over and over again. I know Arthur Benson is aware of this. I'm not the biggest Benson fan, but the fact that he knows about it makes me think they they at least had a chance of dodging the bullet this time.
One has to wonder: How does he keep getting these jobs? I asked someone in the know who works with the KCMO school district.
The answer I received is that he submits his resume and credentials. Then, as it gets closer to interview/"show your cards" time, he withdraws his name from consideration. Then, the other candidates interview. After most of them walk away or are eliminated, he throws his hat back in the ring right before the deadline, conveniently leaving little or no time for references to be checked.
He is known unanimously as a slippery, cocky, ineffective bastard.
