Courtesy of Deadspin's "deleted scenes," KU coach Bill Self gets photographed ... in a bar ... on Mass Street ... with a Mizzou fan. And Self ain't happy. The Mizzou fan tried to talk Self into the picture, but no dice. Self wasn't interested. Understandable. Nobody in the coaching ranks wants to be caught in a Larry Eustachy (this hurts my Cyclone soul) or Ed Podolak situation.
But the Mizzou fan had his girlfriend sanp the photo anyway, capturing the awkward shot on the left (uh, nice shirt). Self had a few choice words for the guy:
He shakes my hand again and brings me in close (so I can hear him overPhotosniped in Lawrence by a Mizzou fan. Eh, at least it wasn't a chubby chick from Mizzou.the dueling pianos) to say, "you know you're a real asshole." I quickly
retort, "well I'm a Mizzou fan, so I don't really give a shit." Bill
fires back one final dig, "you would be."

Great smile Coach Self. . . as usual. As a whole "coaches" are power fanatic, manipulative psycho maniacs. However, you seem to have your own respectable style Bill. I love to watch you coach and your boys play in response to your guidance. I don't miss a game. Wish I could walk into a bar and see your face - I wouldn't take your picture!
missouri fans can't even find a place to party in thier own state
Id be the last person coming to the defense of new generation overpaid and hyped college coaches. ButCmon folks, would you like photos of your every move? Also a little Bill Self story from a Mizzu fan stuck in Lawrence.
A few years ago I was working with Severe Autistic students at a school where Self was holding a hoops camp. These hoop camps were spread out all over Lawrence, and Im sure Selfs time at each was strictly structured.
As Self was leaving a mumbling confused Autistic youth almost bumped into him. (or did I think) At first Self thought it was one of his campers and was ready to teach the youth some manners. He immediately recognized the severity of the young mans problems including being warned of violent reactions. Self looked sad, but took at least 5 minutes to talk with the troubled youth. It was not a photo opportunity; it was a real genuine reaction from a good man. He asked many good questions about Autism as well. Pretty cool in my book!
Lol yet another douche bag Mizzou fan. Nice outfit brooooo you just get out of a frat hazing?
Gee, Bill, don't want to have your picture taken in a bar...don't hang out in bars. Nice shirt, though.
