This four-minute video was shot by Fader TV in Kansas City at the Power & Light District the night of DJ Jazzy Jeff's now infamous performance. I can't make out what Jazzy Jeff's MC, Skillz, is saying on stage in the video, but backstage Z-Trip says he was told not to play any hip-hop music (a claim Cordish has rebutted and later claimed Jazzy Jeff's set damaged the sound system). See for yourself.

Hey, just catching up on this. Had my head in awards stuff for a while there. Just so there's no confusion, I'm not the Jason who posted above.
All I'll say is I'm glad Z-Trip clearly does not hold a grudge against Kansas City as a whole.
lol...nice. I am glad the P & L employees protecting their jobs. Microphones on cell phones and camera's can only handle so many decibels before the sound starts over-modulating on the phone itself. the video above is not a clear representation of the sound of the venue. anyone who claims jazzy jeff is at fault, based off of a cell phone recording is a complete moron. thank you and good day.
The P + L people are straight up racists. Don't pretend it's a sound system issue. I was there. Seemed ok when Z-Trip played, but not when Jazzy Jeff played.
DON'T READ THE COMMENTS ABOVE - JUST SOME P&L EMPLOYEES
And how it sound on a cell-phone-sized recording is a true reflection of the actual sound.
I was there and I have to come clean: it sounded EXACTLY like that. I didn't even need to be kicked out bc of my jersey. I was so disappointed that Jazzy Jeff would put on a whole set that sounded like it was recorded on tiny a handheld video mic. 25 years my a**!
Oh, and Cordish is an awesome and compassionate company that is providing us a diverse, future-thinking, unique urban core that will be the envy of other cities.
Im trying not to take sides on this issue yet because I dont know enough of the facts. However, this is a live recording of the concert. I dont know about permanent damage to the speakers, but something is obviously wrong with the sound here.

I think it's safe to say that all parties involved are full of shit and the continued coverage is getting ridiculous.
