Fox News blowhard Bill O'Reilly is still trying to clear his conscience in the wake of the assassination of abortion provider George Tiller. He's still feeling awfully guilty for repeatedly referring to the doctor as "Tiller the baby killer." After Tiller was gunned down in a Wichita church, O'Reilly claimed he'd never referred to Tiller as "the baby killer," attributing the moniker to anti-abortion groups.
Enter Kansas City Star columnist Mary Sanchez to O'Reilly's defense. No, really:
Not long after news of the murder hit the Internet, liberal bloggersLast night, Sanchez appeared in the "no spin zone" and O'Reilly wasn't exactly grateful as Sanchez, from the "far left" newspaper, expressed her opposition to all abortions.had assembled a video montage of Bill O'Reilly repeating "Tiller the
Killer" on various broadcasts, along with other choice bits of
blood-curdling vituperation. The point was to demonstrate that
O'Reilly, by endlessly calling Tiller a killer, was culpable for
inspiring Roeder's act of murder. I hate to be in the position of
defending O'Reilly, but what he is guilty of is the lesser charge of
propagating ignorance on an important issue.
After Sanchez said abortion was "about people making horrible decisions," O'Reilly corrected her.
"This isn't a discussion about Roe v. Wade or abortion at all. This is a discussion about a man in Kansas ..."
"Tiller isn't about abortion?"
"No, he's not," O'Reilly said. "He's about late-term abortion for trivial reasons."
"Actually, I think they did a lot of abortions there."
"Far and away different than Roe v. Wade," O'Reilly continued, talking
over Sanchez. "One of four doctors in the country. Only four."
"No, it's part of it," Sanchez said.
"No, that's all of it," O'Reilly snapped.
"An abortion is an abortion," Sanchez said. "Can you agree with me that
an abortion is the ending of a life? So it is about that."
"Ah, you know it's not my job to get involved in semantics," O'Reilly
said. "I always say, because this is irrefutable, it's the ending of a
potential life. But after the fetus is a viable human being ..."
"It's the ending of a life," Sanchez corrected.
"After it's a human being, it better be catastrophic, and Tiller was
aborting for any and all reasons for money and that's what was
happening," O'Reilly said. "And my reporting was accurate. Thank you
for appearing, madame."
Same team, Bill-O! Same team!

You are exactly right Jack... Tiller was a murderer 1000 fold and who would want to be where he is now... and to think he attended a church. Bill O Reilly gives millions to charity, supports the military like few others do and is more than honest and has ratings that no liberal loon will ever know. Mary Sanchez is a bigot and a hater... just read the comments at the Star on how popular she is. And jjskck, you think that killing a baby in the 8th or 9th month is not murder. Wow, yea you take that stance to your grave. Pro-life extremist... yea can't have people that want others to live can we?
Of course.
Every good anti-abortionist knows that political power issues from the barrel of a smoking gun, from a bomb, threats, intimidation, mob violence.
It works, doesn't it?
.
So according to Mark and Grace's "logic" my belief that the pro-life movement helped cause Tiller's death entitles me to take an Uzi down to that clinic in KCK where they protest every weekend and mow down a bunch of them. Good to know.
Not that I'm planning anything like that, but it's nice that they'd support me if I was.
In repy to Trist:
Billo is not the kind of host, TV or otherwise, who lets his guests have time to utter more than a few monosyllables.
Billo loves hearing Billo.
If you caught his show Friday last week with Joan Walsh from Salon.com, you'll know why I don't watch that Yapping Clown.
Only in short clips on blogs.
.
O'Reilly was upset that Sanchez wrote she "hated to be in the position of defending Bill O'Reilly." He asked, "what's wrong with defending me?" and repeated the question a few times, Sanchez not really answering only to say that he was a cable news personality known for making loud remarks etc.
It was all about Bill. Bill, Bill, Bill.
Bill O'Reilly is truly a talented host. Anyone who is capable of arguing with someone who is doing nothing but parroting the very same argument right back is basically an argument savant. I'm pretty sure he could have an argument with a banana and fill a solid six minutes of air.
Mary Sanchez came off beautifully. Kudos to her for not falling into O'Reilly's usual traps, because you're not going to outshout him.
And I can't tell who is legitimately a pro-life extremist and who is just trolling.
But no, late term abortions are NOT murder. They are protected by law. Tiller would not have performed them if they were illegal.
Want to stop them? Get the law changed. Write your congressperson. Elect like-minded individuals.
Grace and Mark, I do not understand at all how you can defend the man who murdered an indiviudal who was performing a legal service. It is your kind of applause to this murder that apalls me. Really there are those reading this story in The Pitch, the alternative weekly of my hometown, which was the home of this murderer trying to defend his actions. This world is seriously screwed up. What's the problem, Grace? Thou shall not kill! Do you not agree with this? I'm at a loss here, really. Wow I just cannot believe these comments.
Isn't Tiller's murder just a case of 'what goes around comes around?' I mean really...
One wack job who murders killing another wack job who murders. The general case of the Law of Reciprocity which we all face in life. I don't want to promote murder, but I don't exactly feel anything at all about this. Ambivalence. And yes... late term abortions ARE murder, regardless of possible birth defects that may be present in the child.
