An 83-year-old mansion at 6315 Ward Parkway will be auctioned on the steps of the Jackson County Courthouse tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. The Kansas City Star reported that the home went into foreclosure after SolutionsBank made the owners a $1.1 million dollar loan in October 2007 that since defaulted.

The mansion's most recent owners had planned to expand the J.C. Nichols-constructed home, whose original design was based on Christopher Wren's architecture. But the work was abandoned, and to the sorrow of the neighborhood, the home was abandoned in its torn-up condition.

6315 Ward Parkway had several owners, most notably the Bloch family, who had it between 1957 and 2004. The house's first purchaser, an appliance store owner named Dan Moser, bought it in 1926 for $80,000. Who knows, perhaps someone will buy it tomorrow for 1920s prices?

Not a chance. There are plenty of people who show up at real estate auctions on the off chance something like that will happen. None of them will sit there and watch this place go for eighty grand, guaranteed.
