I have had enough. Two weekends ago,(June 21st, 2009), there was a shooting incident in the Westport Area that has still gone unreported. How do I know? I was there. I can not explain in what capacity I was there, but lets put it this way, I have a badge.
At @ 2:25AM-2:35 AM, 6-7 shots were heard as patrons of Americas Pub were being "pushed" out of the pub.15-18 officers of KCPD & WPS responded to the area of the shots fired. Myself & a KCPD Officer named Bill, tried to prevent the patrons from Americas Pub from going into the direction of the shots fired. Most responded to us, some could care less.
By the time officers responded, the shooter was gone. The area of the incident was behind Boston Market on Mill St. Behind the dumpster there were found empty shell casings along with the weapon in the dumpster itself.
I tipped off KCTV5, The Kansas City Star and KMBZ Radio, Sunday morning. All three have not reported this. Asking yourselves why I tipped them off? Well, the citizens of the Kansas City Metro Area and patrons of Westport need to know that Westport is now a "shooting gallery" and that your life is in danger there on Friday & Saturday evenings.
Why would these three News Agencies not report this? Could it be that the new legislation signed by Missouri Governor Nixon, allowing drinking in the streets of Westport, so many times a year, might have "NOT" happened had this been reported before his signing this week? Maybe. Could it be that the Westport Business Coalition, KCPD & Westport Public Saftey are trying to cover this up? Most likely.
I had email exchanges with KCTV5 News Department this week. They said they contacted KCPD & westport Public Safety. They both denied there was a shooting and the News Director stated they had no reason to believe otherwise. Whatever. Citizens, it did happen and there is a "cover-up" for some reason. I even know of a threat by an individual who was detained by Westport Public Safety and threatened to "come back and shoot up the whole area". Is this an area you want to party in? I think not.
Westport is now the "shooting gallery" of K.C.MO. KCPD & Westport Public Safety can "NOT" Protect You from a "crazy" AK toting individual who wants revenge or just shoots you for fun, and, neither can I. May GOD rest your soul if you find yourself in Westport on the weekend evenings.
