A man in his late teens was shot to death near Linwood and College Sunday around 9:20 p.m., say Kansas City police.
Police have yet to release the victim's name, and they say there is no suspect information at this time. If you have any info about the shooting, call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
The Kansas City Star reported Sunday that homicides are on the rise in KC -- in the first six months of 2009, KC recorded 55 homicides compared to 49 in 2008. Not the most comforting news. The Star also noted that fewer homicides are being solved this year -- 44 percent -- compared to 2008 -- 55 percent.
Update (3 p.m., Monday, July 6): Kansas City police say the victim is 14-year-old William L. Parker of Kansas City, Kansas. No suspects are in custody, police say.
