IHOP's leader envisions '100 foot' snakes falling to earth during Satan's war with Michael the archangel

Lots of fun in the Sunday Star's International House of Prayer story.

IHOP founder Mike Bickle has heard God's voice a couple of times (meh, who hasn't?) and he sees visions of shit straight off the cover of a Dio album.

In a recent post about a prophetic dream about war between Satan and Michael the archangel, Bickle wrote that he saw "large snakes, over 100 feet long and 50 feet thick, each having a huge head that looked like a dragon, and many of them were coming from the sky down to the earth."

Rock on, holy diver.

Bickle knows a lot of people think he's running a cult out in Grandview. But don't worry. He says you've got him all wrong. They're no cult. Just a loving ministry that's convinced about 80 families to move to Grandview, Missouri -- America's eighth fastest dying town.

Bickle's ministry is growing so fast that there are plans for a "150

million-plus world headquarters" just outside the city with "a

5,000-seat conference center, a Bible college (IHOP University) and

administration offices."

Oh, and IHOP doesn't advocate fasting for children -- in case you were wondering about IHOP devotees Nicholas and Rebecca Candler, who Jackson County prosecutors charged with second-degree murder for the starving death of their 4-month-old son.
A jury trial for Nicholas Candler is scheduled for February 2010. Rebecca Candler is still being evaluated.

The Candlers weren't staff members but did take classes at the church, a board member told the Star.

Good to know. The story glosses over the past, so if you want to read more, here's a 2002 Pitch story, "Return of the Prophets," on Bickle's history in KC.

Regarding all of the above comments placed about Mike Bickle and what he is doing; I do not know him personally, as I know he does not know me. However, some of the music that has come out of the IHOP movement is the closest sound to heaven I have ever heard. They are worshipers of Jesus Christ, and they have ushered into the earth a sound that only the angels have heard. As an psalmist myself, it is refreshing to hear the song of a lovesick bride. I salute you for standing in what could be the hardest thing God has ever asked you to do...but it is changing lives. If the ministry is growing, it is because the head is in order. If they are talking about you, you can bet you are favored in the eyes of God. When the Body of Christ lines up with the Word of God and they judge the fruit of the man and not the man, then maybe Jesus can return. Amen. In love, Christina.

I've been suspicious for well over a year and though sometimes I'm wrong, not often and DEFINITELY NOT HERE. Does anyone remember HEAVEN'S GATE and the resulting fiasco/mass suicide.

Now suicide, while I don't encourage it, would be better than if these are the sort of wackos who try to take the surrounding world down with them.

Why was my comment deleted?
The anti-Christian bias at the Pitch is so obvious. Every twisted lifestyle is celebrated in your publication, but let someone defend a local church from distortions that you made, and they get censored. I am not surprised in the least.

I was married to Mikes youngest sister , lisa. Wife numero uno. Granted Ihop is a strange group, but I doubt they will ever have a koolaid party. They may buy up most of that area they are in, and Grandview, but since its a dying burg anyway ,it could be worse. Unless it starts raining giant snakes.

I read the story (strangely, IHOP was discussed briefly at a party I attended Friday night).

It was a great bit of reporting--the facts and quotes left the need for editorializing completely moot. And EVERYBODY claims god just piped up and told them personally to move their family to Grandview to join this organization.

Only people gullible enough to think starving themselves will bring back their savior are gullible enough to pay thousands for a diploma that says "IHOP U".
