Scott Roeder, the man accused of shooting and killing Wichita abortion provider George Tiller, pleaded not guilty at a hearing Tuesday.
Excellent coverage from the Wichita Eagle's Ron Sylvester, who
tweeted the hearing.
Witnesses described seeing Roeder walk up to Tiller, put a gun to his forehead and fire. The Eagle story recalls Keith
Martin, who was ushering that day, chasing Roeder into the parking lot.
"How could you do that?" Martin said he yelled at Roeder.Martin recalled standing in front of Roeder's car, trying to block him from leaving. Martin testified that Roeder threatened to shoot him, so he moved. Then Martin chucked his coffee at Roeder's car.Martin remembered Roeder saying "because he's a murderer" or "a killer" -- something like that."
