Sounds like the Sprint Center is about to lose its only anchor tenant. ESPN cites multiple sources saying the Arena Football League will soon announce that the 50-yard indoor football league will be folding. The Kansas City Brigade would apparently be going into oblivion with the league.

Back in December, the league suspended the 2009 season. At the time, Brigade general manager Brad Likens released a statement saying "we remain committed to fielding a strong team in 2010."

"With a

new foundation for the league, and the support of our Kansas City fans, The

Brigade will shine in Kansas City for many years to come," Likens said in the statement.

There were signs of hope: a new collective

bargaining agreement between management and players and a new business

model. But then the league's commissioner stepped down in July. That same month, Brigade head coach Kevin Porter was named the defensive coordinator at MidAmerica Nazarene.

I e-mailed the Brigade and will update when I hear back.
