One more reason to NOT build this coal plant!

Just remember that the solar and wind projects ALSO have EIA's to complete. When your out of power you can thank the environmentalists for saving the endangered prairie skunk and field mouse. ... And if you actually look those up to see if they are endangered.... You're an idiot. They are not. Save the mouse!!! While we kill babies and freeze to death/heat stroke because we can't afford the electricity ....

If the Rural Utilities Service has a financial stake in this company, then that means they are required to do an environmental impact statement under the National Environmental Policy Act. Its the same as if the federal government were subsidizing the project or providing matching funds or any other sort of financial backing.

This is the kind of reporting we need more of around here. Keep up the great work!

Good reporting, Pitch and Ms. Szczepanski. Keep it up!

Why do we subsidize these fossil fuel projects? We're expected to pay so Sunflower can:

1) buy their fuel out of state, when there's wind right here,
2) sell almost all the electricity out of state, when there's need here (it's the whole justification for the proposal!),
3) dump their precipitate pollution on Kansas soil and water, and
4) profit. They don't need taxpayer help with that part.

I'm tired of Kansas being the dumping ground for the refuse of neighboring states and every corporation's get-rich-quick scheme... and being asked to pay for it to boot.

Good research by the Pitch.

Taxpayers should demand Sunflower pay off their debt before spending more money to build another power plant.
