Eric "Mean" Melin isn't the U.S. Air Guitar Champion. But Melin made an impression with the crowd -- a couple of judges even commented that they'd see him next year (despite giving him shitty scores) -- and the front page of Yahoo. Here's his first-round performance below (thanks to JurisRocktor).
I
caught up with Melin, who was a little frazzled after his early-morning
return to Kansas City and hurting from a possibly ruptured eardrum, the result of smashing his head on the stage at the end of his performance.
"I had an amazing time," Melin says. "It was really cool meeting everybody."
Yeah, he's disappointed. And yeah, he'll be back again.
"I'm already thinking about what I can do next year," he says. "I'm definitely going to cut down on the gimmicks for sure. ... I'm definitely not sad about any of it. I had a really good time, and I'm ready to do it again."
After the jump, see a camera phone video of Mean Melin's performance along with the judge's scoring.

I think that was my first time seeing his routine. The whole thing was rad, but the blood at the end was SICK.
And we just confirmed this! He'll be performing his routine at the Pitch Music Awards Ceremony at the Uptown on Sunday, August 16. Head over to the Wayward Blog for details.
