How about rewarding contractors that can without a doubt prove throughout the project that they use labor that is not consisting of large numbers of illegal immigrants? Yes, they work for pennies. Yes, they work 15 hours a day. Yes, a majority of the work is complete crap. 5-10 years from now people in Olathe and Leawood will realize this when their multi-million dollar houses fall apart, because they passed inspections by being held together by liquid nails and duct tape. Too bad that JE Dunn left the Plaza with a half done ugly as hell pile of crap because of the same situation, The West Edge Building anyone?

I think we should require contractors to use more fat people. Yes. Fat people are discriminated against more than women or minorities. (sarcasm - but probably true) ---- Diversity clauses have no place in construction contracts using public money, or otherwise. All it does is drive costs up. A successful construction company (ie. one that makes money and performs quality construction) will use the most profitable and qualified workers simply by economic market forces. To the point, fat people probably don't make effective laborers. The argument extends to women and minorities. If you are good, the market will find you regardless of gender or skin color.
