Alexander Austin is painting a fantastic portrait of the late King of Pop on this building at the corner of 18th and Troost. Take a look at Austin's Michael Jackson masterpiece so far.

I didn't come across this mural until a couple of months ago and it's beautiful!!! I have to go back before my trip to Cali in June to sign it for MJ. Thank you for giving us this... It moves me to loving tears.
Hey.
I'm the colorist and pinup artist for the Michael Jackson Tribute comic coming out Oct.24th and I live in KC. I'm not trying to plug my projects, I'm just proving that KC has all sorts of MJ connections in the arts. I'm excited to go see your finished work, Alex. For those that don't produce art, don't judge the likeness until it's finished. Work in progress is exactly that.
By the way there are alot of connections... the most dominant one being that the BUILDING he painted it on is called 1809 which is a place of various arts...thats any art you can think of and if its not available there, give some input and new ideas. All artist are influenced by this man... There is much more talent in Kansas City than Kansas Citians realize. We love MJ too... not just the middle eastern children or African children of the world.
The King Of Pop!!!!! He came back to Kansas City after all.
The connection is MJ has fans and supporters ALL over the world!!!! Thanks Alexander Austin!!!!!
Mr. Austin
It's nice work, you're a fine artist.
But why? I just don't make a connection between MJ and KC.
Thanks to all for your comments and support. Be mindful that this is still a work in progress and the portrait is not yet finished. Thanks Pitch!
We love MJ no matter what!!! Thanks Alexander Austin!!!!!!
Its great to see someone in kc do something for MJ!!! I like it and I can tell who it is. The building is called The 1809. They have open mic every Tuesday and Thursday night from 9pm-1am ALL artists, styles etc. Perfect place for the mural........Michael said he was going to Kansas City ages ago!!!!
No offense, but I wouldn't know if that was Michael Jackson unless someone told me. They should have done an album cover, so it's more recognizable. But I'm for any kind of MJ tribute.
