The death count is at 78, according to the Kansas City Police Department's "daily homicide analysis." That's one more than has been officially announced, and the highest mark at this point in time in four years.
KCPD spokeswoman Sgt. Stacey Graves tells me that the cops and the Jackson County medical examiner are still reviewing all the victims this year, adding and removing people from the list.
We could find out the name of the city's 78th homicide later this week.
Also, we're still waiting for the victim ID from the Cricket store robbery/homicide.
