The man's injuries were first said to be life-threatening, but he's now in stable condition, The Kansas City Star reports.

No arrests so if you have a tip, here's the number to call: 816-474-8477.

Also, KSHB Channel 41 has a story on the death of Steven Bertling Jr., an Independence man who was attacked by five to six men while playing basketball with friends in a church parking lot and beaten to death last Saturday.

Here's a snip:

Steven had a lot to look forward to. He had plans to marry his fiancée, Carmen Garcia, next year in Hawaii. He also wanted to spend time with their eight month old daughter Anita.
An $11,000 reward is being offered for tips leading to the arrest of Bertling's killer.

Bertling's funeral is in Grain Valley tonight. Here's his obituary.
