The rumors that the body of Kara Kopetsky had been found aren't true, her mother told KSHB Channel 41's Russ Ptacek.
Kopetsky hasn't been seen since May 2007.
Kopetsky's family have posted her story on the Internet and a $30,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Kopetsky's return.
Kopetsky's mom, Rhonda Beckford, said the rumors started last week, claiming Kopetsky's cell phone and clothes were found and later saying Kopetsky's body had been found. They're not true, and they're hurting the family, which hasn't had anything close to closure.

I thought I had a tip. Called it in got a TIPS registry number thing and all. Unfotunetly the only person who knows for sure what happened to Kara is the people closest to her you know who you are and I lied about the battery .Does not make a difference wether in the phome or not. What makes a difference now is the fact you went back you took it out and barried the phone Its just a matter of time you SOB.
Hey, the people who started this rumor???? That is cold and mean and if you are trying to hurt the family then you have succeeded. My kids knew Kara and attended school with her at Belton High School. Please don't start rumors that will do nothing except hurt her family and friends who are still hoping and praying that she is alive and safe out there somewhere. Kara, if you are reading this please call home. Let your family know that you are safe and everything is okay.
