Killa City: KCK homicide No. 25, Ivan Jimenez dead after double shooting

Kansas City, Kansas, police found two men shot inside a vehicle in the 2000 block of South 47th Terrace Sunday morning around 3 a.m.

One of the shooting victims, a white male, was dead at the scene. His name hasn't been released, yet.

The second victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

KCK police haven't released any suspect information.

Update (12:46 p.m. Monday, August 24): KCK Police say the victim is 19-year-old Ivan Jimenez of KCK.

On October 8, 2008, Jimenez was arrested and released on the same day on misdemeanor charges. Jimenez was a juvenile so the case is sealed.

Dear Pitch: Not looking to be a good year in KCK crime-wise. In all of 2007 25 homicides, in all of 2008 33--so far in 2009, 25 homicides. Prediction: Expect imminent announcement from city hall to the effect that"homicides may be up, but other forms of crime are down sharply." Next announcement from city hall: "We have a very good deal on a bridge in Brooklyn." Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans PS: Another prediction: Several articles soon to appear in local media to the effect: "No one knows why crime rates go up and come down;" so city's politicians, journalists and community leaders are all "off the hook" as far as responsibility for crime explosion!!
