Head count! KCMO School District doesn't know how many people it employs

There won't be direct deposit for employees of the Kansas City, Missouri, School District in September because the district doesn't know how many people it employs. So they want to do a head count and have everyone getting paid by the district physically pick up their paychecks to "verify the size of its workforce and ultimately reduce waste."

The district seriously doesn't even know how many people it employs?

This is the mess that you've inherited, John Covington.

There are several other ways to do this without requiring 4000 people to come to one place within a limited timeframe.

How about asking principals and other administrators to verify who works for them?

How about sending HR and payroll employers to each site to verify employees?

And just wait, even though they will eventually verify the employees, they will still fail to pay several of them. Yes, this district really is that dysfunctional.

That would explain why I still have not received a supplemental paycheck fromt he district that was due to me 4 months ago - depsite the fact I have been employed by the district for 16 years.
