Fox 4's Rob Low (not the West Wing guy) has a hilarious story about a Rockhurst frat -- Sigma Alpha Epsilon -- keeping neighbors in the 5500 block of Forest up late with "wild parties." Neighbors even complained about partiers pissing through their fences. It's so bad that one neighbor said he missed the days when the house belonged to drug dealers.
"I will take the drug dealers," neighbor Ronald Miller told Fox 4. "If I can get a trade I will take that."
Dean Vernon Wormer told Fox 4 that the SAEs are on "double secret probation" and offered some advice: "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son."

I was an SAE at Rockhurst from 1976-80. While times change, some things don't. I would certainly not want to live next door to a frat house.
That being said... what I don't understand is the gang of 3-4 armed punks/thugs who crashed a Pike frat party in this neighborhood this past Saturday night, July 17.
Yeah, some real classy gems who waived guns at my son and his friends and demanded wallets, phones and cash. These punks also physically assaulted the party-goers, including the girls.
My son yelled at them to knock it off, especially when they started hitting his girlfriend. For that chivalrous gesture, he was punched and pistol whipped. He needed several stitches about his left eye and the corner of his mouth. His face is pretty bruised up.
So, to the neighbors who complain that ALL frat rats are idiots: Who would you rather have living next door? My son or the jerks who committed armed robbery in your neighborhood.
Have a nice day!
This is fantastic publicity SAE. I don't know why everyone is freaking out about this. It is great representation of themselves, their national fraternity, and the institution providing their education. It seems to be a true representation of what a fraternity should be all about. How many times will it take to get kicked out of the Rockhurst social fraternity network to realizes that you all are just a waste of space? Clearly you didn't deserve another chance to be part of the fraternities at Rockhurst. Im glad Rockhurst has another chance to rid itself of the pollution disgracing their name. Good-bye SAE!
P.S. Your president looked foolish on the local news network.

These are college kids living close to their school, this is going to happen. If anyone claims that college kids don't party that's a flat out lie, and everyone knows this is part of the college culture. It just so happens that these neighnors are not in favor (2 of a block of 16 houses), sure they could call out the other fraternities and sororities at Rockhurst or UMKC for that matter since they too have wild parties. It's just the way it is.
How old was the current Rockhurst population in the year 2000? 11-12 years old. Why don't you bring up some relevant facts "minerva sucks" when trying to make a logical argument. Say something relevant next time you post something, because your just embarassing yourself and your organization.
SAE was kicked off campus for drugs in 2000. True Gentlemen indeed.
I would also suggest Fox 4 News, or The Pitch, interview every single person who lives on the 55th and Forest block to gain an unbiased opinion to the situation. I suspect the results would be much different.
Do the people who live on this block understand that their property value has significantly increased since Rockhurst, and SAE for that matter, have been around this neighborhood? Of course not, because they do not understand the world in which we live. The "drug dealing" house was in fact a house with no windows or doors and bums, who had no housing, who sold drugs out of the house; along with the occasional gunshot. Sounds like a great neighbor. SAE, along with the University's help rebuilt the house from the ground up.
The SAEs were banned from campus during all 4 of my years at Rockhurst. They still had the crazy parties. Rockhurst sold their house right on the edge of campus to the city as a practice house for firefighting. Hence, they move down the block where non-students live and things like this happen.
The True Gentleman
The official creed of Sigma Alpha Epsilon
The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe.

What bone jobs
I live near Rockhurst/UMKC and these party houses are full of ass clowns. One time a group of drunk, shirtless fratboys were performing collegiate wrestling moves on each other in their front yard at 1am. And there's nothing funnier than a wasted 18 year old girl trying to walk down a KC sidewalk in high heels.
Funny stuff, but it does get a little old after a while.
I get that. Having been subjected to Art School students living above me in midtown, i'd have much preferred a couple of sleepy pot dealers.
