IHOP founder denies claims of cult-dom

Folks from the International House of Prayer held their first of two information sessions last week in an attempt to ask Grandview-at-large, "We're still cool, right?"

No mention of Armageddon or 100 foot snakes but the 400 or so people who came to the meeting were uneasy about clogged streets and houses, and tying so much of the community's real estate and economy to a single source.

"The idea of one particular group coming in and buying a lot of property and getting control over the community is a bit disturbing to all of us," said one attendee.

One neighbor claimed there were 17 IHOPers living in a house across the street. Another called the organization's followers "the most naive kids I've ever met." IHOP executives denied the naive thing and said they'd look into the overcrowding.

Complaints about development aside, most everyone wanted to know one thing: Is IHOP a cult? Mike Bickle, IHOP's founder, gave the short answer: "No, we're not a cult."

The long answer comes out in this lightly edited four-and-a-half minute video. That's Bickle talking.

The second information session is tonight at 7 at the Hillcrest Community Center (10401 Hillcrest Rd.). They're serving refreshments, but we suggest you bring your own Kool-Aid.

I have dear friends and family that are in the ministry who are very involved with IHOP and love it. I have met some very nice people at IHOP and I have also met some really unstable people that say they are "ON STAFF" there. When I say unstable . . . I mean people who I have helped with serious financial problems and unbelievable lack of wisdom for one who spends a great devotion to the prayer room at IHOP. While I know they were not PAID staff, the word "staff" gave a level of credibility to the person. And as a representative of IHOP and Jesus . . . I would think one would want to have a character with integrity. However, after coming to know some of them I noticed they had no job for wages earned, no money, broken down cars, and yet some of them were in the process of trying to raise money for their support by asking people who DO work, to donate offerings as they would a missionary. I have grown up giving to support those on the mission field, but never had been asked to support people who want to pray 24 hours a day and not work at all. This seems to be typical of many of the IHOPERS I have met. I realize not all are like this. I'm all for prayer . . . and the Word talks about us having a lifestyle of praying. And one thing I know IHOP stands for is being in fasting and prayer for REVIVAL. Why though must so much time be spent in prayer ASKING God for revival, when Jesus already paid the price to give IT TO us? It seems to me that if we were out IN the world, and IN the marketplace doing life just like Jesus did . . . we would be so busy healing the sick . . . meeting the needs of people . . . experiencing the miraculous in the streets and in our jobs . . . REVIVAL WOULD JUST HAPPEN! I would go so far as to say it is not GOD who is withholding revival, but it is US not walking in it. We have prayed for YEARS asking God for Revival . . . like we want it more than God does. The truth is that if WE really wanted revival half as much as God does, we'd be out there in the world doing what Jesus told us to do . . . GREATER WORKS THAN THESE SHALL YE DO. I see us living it by touching the lives of those who are in our sphere of influence . . . instead of spending hours upon hours tucked away from the world . . . hidden in our prayer rooms. There is a balance. So for IHOPERS, the zeal for God is so wonderful, but are they equipping you to go into your gifted sphere of influence and be excellent there? Not everyone is called to be a street preacher, or in YWAM . . . although that calling is very admirable and precious. Some are called to be owners of business, or Congressmen and Senators, or Doctors, or working in the Media, or in Sports. And those spheres of influence are such a mission field and CALLING OUT to be filled by, passionate lovers of God who can say YES to God.

Questions: If IHOP's students come to a place in their lives (during their internships or the like) that they view many things in the USA as 'evil', how would they enter 'the world' again and live in it? How would they live in a world that they view as evil? How would they be able to find themselves enjoying it?
Why can't they enjoy parties? Why can't they enjoy video games? Um... is it taught that 'exotic relations' are acceptable, in marriage and... I think its okay to investigate how to make that part of your life more entertaining... I personally wouldn't encourage pornography... argh! Your decision.

There's only one accuser, therefore, He's the king of demons....seems with your accusations you would fit it quite well there, according to your own words. Is this really the best you can do?

I've had youth go to this place in KC. They come back praying so fast that you can hardly understand them. They also don't mind sitting under false teachings as long as there is good teaching also. I know this because they have told that to me. I also have been told how much they had to pay to go live in a little hotel room with 5 others guys for weeks on end.

It isn't a cult....maybe.....but it is off and somewhat a scam.

Those youth who came back from IHOP proceeded to take kids from our youth program to do something else...most of the kids that left don't go to church anymore...and the ones that instigated it are back but we don't let them have any leadership or standing in our group.

IHOP is okay only if the kids that go there are exremely strong in the Bible...but I will never send my youth or my children to it.

What is your name? I feel like many claim they were on leadership at IHOP but were actually delusional and then hurt when they were asked to step out of their "positions". I would like to find out if your claims are really true.

Being part of IHOP-KC for over 8 years and being part of the leadership for over 6 of those years, I have to disagree with you. IHOP-KC is like any other cult - or maybe that is too fierce of a word. Jehovah’s Witness, or Mormon type of religion might be a better category to place these IHOPers in. Are they saved? Oh yes, of course they will be with Jesus in the next life. But the foundational - so called prophetic words that much of what make up this 24/7 prayer room are not based on foundational truths, and many of them have been changed throughout the beginning of IHOP-KC when we, (yes we), started in a trailer because, well.. the prophecies did not happen and many men involved were not walking in truth at that time.
I have more than I can write in a blog. I lived it. Where what they are doing is in scripture, at least a lot of it, it is based out of the old covenant and not the finished work of the cross. Galatians would be a good book to compare them to. When Paul returned to find their doctrines tainted. As far as many of the leaders (now) and teachers of IHOPU, “money” would be a great word… What would all of these people do if IHOP-KC ended tomorrow? Would these teachers and leaders be able to get jobs to support their families? What about the kids in this ministry and the rock star wannabes? Over 80 percent of them do not know how to function outside of the bubble and lack social skills and job training. Prayer is a good thing, but why should I even expect to get paid for it? Hello! And I probably wouldn't mind IHOP-KC so much if all they did was to provide a place of worship to the Lord. But they don’t. There are so many deeper workings that happen there which are being sent all over the world and country. Yes, IHOP is a missions base where people come to get equipped and then get sent out.
Regarding fasting… Oh how I fasted. So much that my insides, even today, still have medical issues...and they will tell you that they make no one fast, that it is a choice - but remember these people are seeking acceptance and want to feel like they belong somewhere when they use those tactics, (to make you think you are fasting so that your heart is more tender for God), but you are actually fasting for all the wrong reasons (one of which is being accepted by the leaders and teachers and peers).
People come and are then sent out "by God" so multiplication of a thwarted, Christian message goes out across the world...sound familiar? What troubles me is that many Christians, like CBN, 700 Club and others, do not know the entire story and what exactly happens in this place - so they only report what appears to be truth....A real reporter would come into the community, try to be part of the community, and then would see IHOP is a cult. But for every person that does escape this stronghold, and tests the teachings, and really seeks truth, they do eventually find it and learn to walk in the freedom Jesus came to give us. Mike Bickle, and I can mention many others, have their own agendas now. And while they will coat things to make people believe what they teach is scriptural, I thank God that I searched and was one like many, many others that have left IHOP because we asked Father God to show us truth and the veils were removed. The lies were uncovered, the money scams undone.

So when many say this is a place that one can go deeper. Yes, it is, but only if you seek the truth in the scriptures by His Spirit and not the interpretations that someone twists them for all to believe. If you seek, this place is a place where you can actually say that God uses ALL things, even bad things, for your good for those that are in Him. I have a friend that was a Jehovah’s Witness. In his seeking scriptures vs. what was being taught to him, he is now on fire for God because he walks in the freedom that Jesus died and rose again to give us. IHOP-KC does more damage than good for the kids seeking the Lord. It thwarts their thinking and even relationship with Jesus and the Father.
Where a ministry is there to help the community and offer fellowship and truth, IHOP -KC does none of the above. Right now they have many people fooled but God is God and in the end He will have the last word and all these people that are still in bondage will know the truth of what living a wasted life truly is. Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on Mike Bickle, David Sliker, Corey Russell and all the ones associated with this ministry. Have mercy and have your people seek the truth that they may walk in the freedom you paid for them by the cross.

Now would you like to know the salaries these so called fasted lifestyle missionaries make and trust me I am not knocking it but don't preach that you don't take in a salary when it is clear in the records if you are given access to see it the ones that do make a hefty one indeed and you would be surprised at the ones that preach oh no I do not but in fact make the most of the bunch and many are 6 digit salaries...imagine that while many of the prayer missionaries and I mean many are starving to death or fasting because they have to not because they choose to. Scam! and what I know now that I free from this place is if God could set me Free how many others can He do the same for?

Would like to clarify that there are many IHOP'ers who are in favor of education, but it is seen as a means to further the prayer movement....By getting involved in marketplace christianity.

Well as a former IHOPer it is nice to see that there a few people on the planet who also began questioning the place. Of course I am 4 months late on this but oh well. I moved to IHOP from Kansas City at the age of 19. Grew up in a strict conservative christian family with an abusive father. I liked the idea of a church that did things a little less traditionaly. I wanted to get out of Minnesota after years of instability and abuse in my family so i didn't think twice and jumped right in to IHOP. For four years i spent my life daily praying 6+ hours, fasting, reading the bible and being immersed in everything IHOP. I loved it for a while but always had a hard time with some parts of the movement. Particularly the guilt and harsh veiwpoints of some of the speakers as well as the discouragement to get an education and have a balanced lifestyle which was seen as wrong for many reasons which they got from the bible. I am well versed in all the answers that your typical IHOP'er would give in defending the views and pointing the finger back at me as you know the spirit of the age person who is being decieved by the devil ect. ( I forget the rhetoric its been a few years, but it's never ending). The positives of the church are that the young people there are mostly nice friendly young adults who grew up in rural america going to church with their parents and attending youth group. Many of them led more balanced lives before they moved to IHOP. The majority come from republican families but then their are your converted liberals, drug addicts, intellectuals who bring more attraction to the movement...These people are well intentioned, friendly, kind ect. Absolutely unwilling to budge on their beliefs though. I found living at IHOP to become unbearable, it became harder and harder as the years went on. I became depressed. Sought help from leaders and friends at IHOP but it was useless to fix the feeling that I was not in the right place, nor was it right for me to be deeply unhappy. The guilt from IHOP rhetoric was overwhelming and very effective. Eventually I decided I wanted to be happy even if I had to leave IHOP and question some of my long held beliefs. So i left and returned home . I have now been living in Minnesota almost 3 years, am 25 years old and have been doing much better. I'm in college and am working to get my bachelor degree. I am much more balanced in my world veiw, and I am happier. I would say the drawback that going to IHOP had was that I spent my best years in a room trying to please God by prayer instead of living my life. I missed out on college, which i still regret. I am 4 years older than my classmates now and am making half the money i'd be making if I had gone to college out of highschool. But I learned many things while at IHOP. I met people, had new experiences and even got to work as a nanny in Kansas City. I would say to people, live your life to the fullest, and think for yourself. Believe in your ability to succeed and please consider the idea that it may be best to not go to IHOP.

my brain has been washed by the blood of JESUS. iF IT WAS A CULT AND DEMON RAN WHY WOULD DEMONS ASK FOR JESUS TO COME BACK AND ESTABLISH JESUS' THRONE. THAT MEANS SATAN WOULD BE THROWN INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE WITH ALL THE PEOPLE THAT CHOOSE TO FOLLOW SATAN. I think people can be smart but not have wisdom. In proverbs it says that lady wisdom is calling out asking to learn her ways and then there is another lady that will drive you into the pit. So when a kid is in his word day and night and praying two to five hours a day please tell me
how he is not wise. To the world he is not but to the LORD he is. fear the Lord people he decides where your soul will go and we all die. it is up to u to choose heaven or hell. He's coming back to claim his bride (the church) it will be a glorious day for believers but a dreadful day for those who are smart in there own eyes. Our God is a just and merciful God and he wants all of you to know he doesn't want you to go to hell but because he is just he must send you there if you choose to say no to him. He really does Love all of you.

The International House of Prayer is Awesome! It is NOT NOT a cult. When I think of a cult, I think of something bad... When I think of IHOPrayer, I see a place of freedom in God, freedom to worship, goldly freedom. I did an internship there and I was set free from so many issues I had. Yes, I had issues...and I still am dealing with some. For example, I received a deep revelation of the loving Father heart of God in the Bible, contrary to the popular opinion that God is mostly angry, disappointed. It helped me to realize that God doesn't love me based on my performance, but He loves me just simply because I am His child. I have learned to not get my identity from my (many times poor) performance, but rather from the fact that "God loves me." That revelation shoved away so many insecurities having to do with fear of failure, etc. I'm so glad I was able to receive at that time in my life, because if I didn't I would of gone suidical/deep depression (because of the many many times I have failed or messed up over the past 2 years). The staff are so so loving and they love love people because they have the love of the Father flowing through them. They never force anything.

This forum debate is ridiculous. In college, my anthropology professor used to say that the term "cult" is completely relative. If you dislike a group of people and their religion, they are automatically a cult. As someone said above, the whole argument is moot.

The question that should be asked is: Is IHOP a danger to its adherents or the surrounding community? Is there evidence of physical or sexual abuse? Is there evidence of property being taken unlawfully or any other illegal activity? If not then... live and let live.

If 18 year olds want to sit around in apartments and chant "The Blood, the Blood, the Blood," (I cracked up at that by the way) it's not hurting anyone. Is it any more harmful than sitting around and playing video games or playing D&D or chanting Harry Potter spells?

I feel kind of bad for evangelicals. Everyone else is allowed to do whatever weird shit they want but Christians aren't allowed to live their lives. As long as they are not infringing on MY rights? I don't give a damn.

Jesus loves you all. IHOP is not a cult, IHOP's heart is for a revolution in today's society. 24/7 prayer is a call FEW take on because it's a call to consecration.
As far as the bridal paradigm goes, we are the bride of Christ. There is NOTHING sexual about that. If you imagine Jesus sexually that is wrong - Mike Bickle TALKS about that.
I'm proud to be a bride of Christ, He's my everything :)

I came back and Mike Bickel tried to hit me with his belt because I forgot his Baja Gordita, so I said "SO WHAT BITCH" and he started crying because he forgot he was fasting nshit. LOL, Miiiike! Alot of comments, alot of criticism, but why does it seem to be that the people who are doing the criticizing and passing judgement are actually doing less for the Kingdom of God then the alleged "cult" IHOP?

Jesus said, if you believe in your heart (faith) and confess with your mouth (action) you have attained salvation. Sure sure, there are alot of other things to fine tune in life.

But do you think God goes after every single doctrinal idea you get wrong? WE. ARE. HUMAN. Our minds cannot contain the infinite God! He knows that, that's why He is so gracious!

I believe this. If it is drawing people back to prayer, to intimacy with God, and changing lives, its serving its purpose.

So to all those who just want to look for conspiracy, it's all around. In fact, I still haven't really researched whether dogs can eat homework. Why not we research that while we are on this topic.

Jesus IS coming back. Stop squabbling among yourselves and set your eyes on His coming. Prepare YOURSELF. And in the midst, build others up for the edifying of the Bride.

God bless,
MarcusDS

Most of the criticisms I am reading are coming from either non-Christians, (what do you expect), or Christians who disagree with some of the stands IHOP makes. For example: speaking in tongues. For a person who has been raised in secessionist doctrine, they of course would adamantly claim that IHOP is not scriptural in their application of tongues. We then hear the same old worn out scriptural references about why, (like we have never read these ourselves). When you do this you just show your immaturity and ignorance about the differences in many different expressions of faith, i.e. Catholic vs. Pentecostal vs. Baptist vs. Methodist, etc. By the way, I am not an IHOPer, and have only recently been there one time. For you genuine believers (not all who post here are) Jesus taught us in His parables that the Kingdom of God will always have good and bad mingled together. The very moment good seed is planted, the enemy will plant bad seed. IHOP is neither good nor bad, and it is up to you to find Jesus and make Him your "pearl of great price". If you seek with all your heart, you will find Him.

I feel so sorry for the people hoodwinked by Bickle, Many of them are sincere and seriously desire of what they participate in to be real. M.B. is one of the biggest lying manipulators I have ever witnessed or encountered. From the fear mongering, misinterpretation of the bible; legalistic controlling escatological crap; and demand of 5 grand to "join his training" to the "popcorn prophecy!" What a bunch of brainwashed nonsense!

Me & alot of my friends were present when the "children of god" were created in huntington beach california in the 70's. Alot of my friends went from "normal" to wearing sheet togas with glazed over eyes within a week. No one will ever make me believe that some government agency was not "in bed with mo" their fearless leader.

The similarities with Bickle are so strikingly identical it makes me cry. To see so many following this self appointed self annointed lunatic. The majoring on minors. The physical and spiritual abuse! Will the IHOP people disapear like so many of my friends did?

WAKE UP PEOPLE! WE NEED TO ASK THE HARD QUESTIONS? WHERE IS THE MONEY COMING IN FROM FOR THE PURCHASES AND LEASES OF ALL THE PROPERTIES? All the rentals of the "house of prayer" in certain states? Who is bankrolling these people? I know in the 70's it was probably the CIA or some other government run experiment. Suddenly there is all this cash and l2 hour "biblestudies."

Who wants us sitting over our relgion like some person smoking a joint watching the lava lamp for hours on our bean bags? Who wants commerce to cease in the U.S.? Ask the hard questions.

This is not the message of our true Jesus Christ. Please return to proper truth and the true church! The one Jesus left 2,000 years ago. Not some man made piece of junk that will fail inevitably, (or as soon as the government defunds it). I will be praying bigtime for all of you. 24/7 Sister L.

Mike Bickle is a false prophet. He, along with Rick Joyner are channeling dreams and visions from demonic forces. Mike has been preaching the same 'messages' as occultic mediums Jane Lead and Alice Bailey. Sensual passion for Jesus, the Elijah List, "Sauls vs the Davids", Davidic Warfare, a coming "global" church, paradigm shift, transition, are connected to the occultic agenda to bring in the antichrist, called NEW BEGININNGS! Occultic apostates like Rick Joyner dismisses the Rapture which puts the church on the same bandwagon as the occultics and the world in looking for "the King". THE FALSE KING! Scripture tells us that Jesus comes as the bridegroom first to remove His church, then comes back as King at HIs second coming WITH His church. Any other "King" coming before, is the Man of Sin masquerading as the Man of Peace the Bible warns about. "New Gospel", "New Jesus", "New Rain of the Spirit" "come straight the New Age Movement . Bickle's "Birthing the global church" is the same as the occultic 'birthing the One World Church." Bickle's Feast of Tabernacles is also the same as the occultic Planetary Pentecost! Bickle's "Corporate Christ" is the same as the occultic "Cosmic Christ!" Now he is promoting contemplative prayer, the same as the mystics and Catholics use! Romans tells us to contend for doctrine but now Bereans are called Heresy Hunters! The Bible tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is self control but Bickle tells us its screaming, fainting, shaking, jerking and changes in skin color!? ! The Bible tells us to be sober but Bickle promotes drunkeness from the "New Wine" that churches around the world are partaking of. This literally is the world consuming the cup of abominations the One World Philosophy that Jesus warned would come. Jane Leads 16th mystic prophecies talk of the The Wars of David, exactly what Joyner and Bickle promote. The Davids are those that go by spirit revelation only and the Sauls are those who go by the Logos, the written word of God only. The Church is becoming militant against itself. The push is to eradicate any old wineskins who are in the way of the Global church which is literally the occultic One World Church. God help those who have fallen for these false prophets and doctrines of demons that Timothy and Paul warned us about! "Come out of her, my people..." Revelation 18:4

Are you people that go to ihop clueless?
Just look into just a few of these postings
Here on this site and you will find out that
ihop is a cult. How can you hear from several
People on here that ihop has ruined there lives
And just act like its no big deal? I have been
Around ihop since in started in or around
2000 and I too was naive to their practices.
Do you people that go to ihop know that Mike
bickle prophised a pastors death because he
spoke out against some unbiblical practices
In ministry when he got started? Of course not.
why? Because you are too busy defending
Him and his ministry instead of actually looking
Into the facts and checking into the countless
Number of stories of lives that ihop has ruined.
If you need Biblical references ill find you
At least 10 or so please just ask.

Oh my gosh...some of the comments on here are so nasty! Aside from all that has been said about IHOP, my daughter and I drive 14 hours to get to IHOP and spend two days in the prayer room(with breaks back at our hotel)once a year for the past 3 years, because there is such an unwavering devotion to prayer and intercession.
What freaks some people out is that it is an intense experience and it is geared more toward those that like to pray.
Everyone should be instant in prayer as the scripture says, but there are some, such as Anna and Simeon, in scripture, that are really called to stand in the place of prayer for people, nations, events, leaders, etc.
That is not for everyone.
But the body is many members, but we are all one. So, this IHOP is a kind of magnet for those that are called to be devoted to prayer and fasting, but they are doing the whole body service because God is glorified and the body is edified by their prayers.
If it seems "cultish" to some, it is because of the intense focus on prayer and intercession (another form of targeted prayer).
blessings!

JLW,

I won't waste my time on trying to prove to you whether iHop is a cult. However I think your logic is way off on the point of your post. You said and I quote "And don't begin to think you can outsmart me. im on my face in prayer and in the Word 2-5 hours a day." I don't know how praying 2-5 hours a day would make you smart. It may in your reason of thought make you more in touch with your religion but how in the world does prayer increase ones intelligence?

Peace.

Well, all this talk about being a cult,hmmm.....I know IHOP well played on some of the sets and have been around it for awhile. look guys this is a youth movement. So that will induce much immaturity and passion mixed with it. These people are moving from all over the world just to get a touch from God. Unfortunately the world wants to see a perfect representation of Christ or else they will through out the baby with the bath water. And I say this as a Christian....you can't blame them. But I say this to those in arrogant opposition to a corporate immature representation of Christ on the earth, you were once a child too, then you grew into who or what you are now. So please be discerning otherwise you will bring judgment on yourself to the standard in which you judge. There are problems with IHOP. There are problems with any group or entity. But I do hear the valid questions being raised that must be addressed, such as housing, and "ihopers" or any christian using the name of God to rip you off. Remember this though the 64137 area code has went up in property value when every other zip went down in the housing crisis. Anyway there are valid points on both sides of this...and IHOP guys is not a cult, sorry. Thank you for your time

I challenge you to actually read up on some bible history. We DO NOT have the original manuscripts of the bible.

FYI everyone...a CULT is a FALSE religion. If you have different beliefs than the christian beliefs they have at IHOP, then yes, they would be considered a cult to you. Just as Buddhism or Islamic would be if you didn't believe what they believed.

And to what 'theBibleIsFalse' up there mentioned about wars being cause by religion- Yes, people do dumb and wrong things, regardless of beliefs. If God were nonexistent, war would still be showing its ugly face all over this planet(provided this planet could exist without God).

BTW if you could spend some time actually looking into biblical accuracy, you would see that it documents large historical events accurately according to regular history. Shoot, we even have the original manuscripts of the bible. If you don't believe the events recorded in the bible you might as well not believe anything you read out of a text-book from school. I challenge you to actually read up some bible history and see that it matches up with world history without missing a beat.

After reading most of these postings I felt compelled to post as a parent of not one but two sons whom are heavily involved with the IHop ministry. We are not in Kansas City, rather in the panhandle of Florida. My youngest son has been to the conference the last two years and my oldest went this past year as well. Both have become stronger men in Christ, NOT in IHop, both are on fire for God. Yes, my youngest wants to attend IHop University, and probably more than likely will. I do not feel threatened by this place in any way. Everything I have heard and seen from both, follow the guidelines of the bible to a tee. If you all will stop and think, anything to do with religion, or holy spirit has been under attack for as long as time has been. It's nothing new to have people spreading falaties about any 'group' that choses to worship Jesus in a mass venue. And that will more than likely never change. We must keep strong in our faith and stand together against those that will ridicule and condem us. I will say this, I have a 16 year old son that would rather spend Friday nights at our church with fellow youth watching IHop broadcasts and worshiping our Lord, than out with others drinking and driving and having sex promiscuisly. I don't know about most of you parents, but I am happy as a clam my son is where he is!

I have gone to IHOP twice, and I have a few people close to me that have done internships, and the church I was raised in is very pro-IHOP. That said, I am not sure its a cult, but I think they twist things around, my dad and I went there in 2006 and he did a "fleece" about my mom, then got confirmation to not repair their relationship through something someone prophesied. How is that backed up by God? I also felt sorta odd about the doctrinal things, like speaking in tongues from the platform without an interpreter, something explicitly spoken against in I Corithians. I think cult is a strong word, but I don't know if they are actually following what the Bible says concerning the running of a ministry, regardless of what it calls itself, it is affecting thousands of peoples reltionship with God,and must be held responsible.

I have my own church, but I went to a ihop conference in 06 and read a mike bickle book on fasting. The bride pardigm seems a bit off to some because its new but its scriptural. I dont go consistently to ihop but the few times I have gone to worship and pray have been a great, non brain washing experience.

Harden not hearts people and you'll see where God is.

I am shocked at all the terrible comments made towards IHOP, that people are even considering the possibility that this could be a cult. I think it's safe to say that many of you accusing this organization as a cult have not actually dug into and/or researched this organization. Also, if you are a believer in Jesus Christ, and a follower of His Word, then you would easily be able to decipher whether or not this was a cult. HOWEVER, none of you have provided any scripture references or even a legitimate reason to back up your responses. I find that if you really wanted to love Jesus Christ for who He claims He is in His Bible, you would not be finding websites that criticize IHOP as a cult, and then putting some of your own input as well. Here's a simple starter verse: 1 John 4:1-3 says "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God...."

CULT!

Of course IHop is owned by the demon cult. They have used the restraunts for years to bring the children they molest and other victims to show them off and give them a "treat". The IHop at 63 and Antioch in Merriam, Kansas has been a favorite spot for this group to hook up and play around in the bathroom. They don't have to worry about anyone reporting the child activities in or out of the bathrooms especially in the middle of the night. The cult prostitutes that live at Holiday Hills apartments have the children delivered to their apartments and then after a little "fun" their rapest can openly take them for a snack. Everyone who grew up in K.C. knows about this activity except of course the police who claim to not have a clue, no matter how many victims risk their life to come forward. So who's to blame and where can someone go for help? No where. That's why demon cults thrive in K.C., it is so easy here to do as you please and the police will help cover it up.

Email ihopisacult@hotmail.com for more detailed info and check out ihopcult.wordpress.com. Let me tell everyone that I attended this cult and it ruined my life. Do not attend any churches with any pastoral association with IHOP, Rick Joiner, Paul Cain, Mike Bickle, and any of the others. They believe in contemplative prayer, super-spirituality, and all kinds of wierd stuff that is doctrine of demons and not doctrine of God. Please, please, please do your own research! They stole three years of my life.
