Artist and Crossroads resident David Matthews was going to drive to Joplin, Missouri, to see his family over his birthday weekend. But he had to catch a ride on Saturday -- his birthday. Sometime in the prior 24 hours, a vandal made a real piece of art out of his car. The vandal (or vandals) slashed all four tires, smashed every head- and taillight and lodged a hammer into Matthews' windshield. But here's the kicker -- there's a broken cell phone impaled on one of the hammer's claw. Seems like someone was trying to send Matthews a message. He swears it must have been a case of mistaken identity.

Sounds like delayed road rage. Maybe he cut someone off and did not notice them following him home.

That sucks.
