The whole 3am thing is just stupid. We don't need a regulated closing time. This isn't Prohibition. Why is it the government's job to tell us when we can drink? Last Calls simply result in more drunk driving because people will binge drink during the last 30 minutes and then all head out to their cars at the same time. LESS GOVERNMENT NOW! Get the hell out of my life. I'm inclined to run for City Council next election specifically to go after the stupid excesses of power.

It's not so much the new rules I have a problem with - it's the exemption for downtown bars. KC's government has always been for sale to the highest bidder, but do they have to be so goddamn blatant about it? That horseshit from Majors is pretty funny, too.

That's interesting. Here's Regulated Industries Goals, according to their website:

Our goal: To ensure all of the legal provisions and technical requirements set forth in Chapters 10, 12, 41, 42 and 76 of the administrative code are complied with, thereby safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of the public and sustaining the livability and vitality of neighborhoods.

It is our duty to this city to drink more at the stagecoach. Best jukebox in town!
