Congress voted yesterday on a resolution denouncing South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson's "You lie" outburst during President Obama's speech to Congress. The resolution passed 240-179, and locally the vote fell on party lines, except one Missouri Republican: Jo Ann Emerson.
The New York Times reported how every representative voted, and here's the breakdown.
Joining Emerson in condemining Wilson's attempt to turn the address into British Parliament were Kansas Rep. Dennis Moore and Missouri Reps. Emanuel Cleaver, Russ Carnahan and Wm. Lacy Clay.
Voting against the resolution (and apparently approving of Wilson's "You lie" shriek) were Kansas Reps. Lynn Jenkins, Jerry Moran and Todd Tiahrt and Missouri Reps. Todd Akin, Roy Blunt, Sam Graves, and Blaine Luetkemeyer.
Missouri Rep. Ike Skelton voted present.

I do not approve of Mr. Wilson's uncivilized behavior. I do not approve of Mr. Obama's lie, either (really more of a gross stretching of truth as it was a technically true and practically false statement), but Mr. Wilson should no longer be shocked that lies happen in the Capitol building; it happens every day.
But, seriously, why the waste of time on this? There are parliamentary procedures for noting in the record that a comment or behavior is not approved of. It does not take this much time or pomp to deal with the issue when the same representatives claim they need to shove through a 1200+ page health care bill because "Americans need relief!" Then WHY are they wasting time (and our money)?
