Killa City: KCMO homicide No. 87, 7-month-old Mikel Alston dead from blunt force trauma

Kansas City police are investigating the death of a baby as a homicide. Police say 7-month-old Mikel Alston died from blunt force trauma at the Homestead Apartments, 811 E. Armour, a week ago.

The Kansas City Star reported that Alston's father laid him down for a nap but couldn't wake him up later.

Update (5:12 p.m. Thursday): Also, Charmanie Jamison's death is being counted as a homicide, so that puts Kansas City's total number of homicides at 88.

Fox 4 has a story about Jamison's family and the family of Jamison's boyfriend asking prosecutors to drop charges against the boyfriend. They believe the boyfriend accidentally shot Jamison.
