The treasurer for the Four Freedoms Democratic Club sent an e-mail yesterday scolding the Kansas City Pride Democratic Club, which the Missouri Ethics Commission levied a massive $124,212 fine against last week for failing to turn in reports.

Miriam Hennosy, treasurer for the Four Freedoms Democratic Club, chastised Kansas City Pride in e-mail, and noted that Four Freedoms is "the oldest LGBT advocacy organization in Kansas City."

"The Board of Directors of Four Freedoms encourages both the leadership and

membership of KC-Pride to bring their Club into full compliance with

Missouri's rules for political clubs and political action groups, to ensure

that this error does not overshadow the important mission and

accomplishments of KC Pride that have benefitted the LGBT community."

How is this city even big enough for two gay political clubs? Just shows that the in-fighting between the clubs is still alive.

Read the full e-mail after the jump.

The Board of Directors of Four Freedoms Democratic Club, an LGBT political

organization, was disappointed to learn of the fine levied by the Missouri

Ethics Commission against Kansas City Pride Democratic Club. The fine was

the result of the organization's failure to file financial disclosure forms

for several consecutive quarters. Compliance with state election laws is a

critical aspect of the operations of any political organization and is

necessary to ensure accountability and transparency. As one of several LGBT

organizations involved in political advocacy in the Kansas City area, this

lapse by Kansas City Pride Democratic Club has the potential to have a

negative impact on the work of all our organizations and the LGBT community

as a whole.

The Board of Directors of Four Freedoms encourages both the leadership and

membership of KC-Pride to bring their Club into full compliance with

Missouri's rules for political clubs and political action groups, to ensure

that this error does not overshadow the important mission and

accomplishments of KC Pride that have benefitted the LGBT community.

Four Freedoms is the oldest LGBT advocacy organization in Kansas City and

works to create change from within the Democratic Party by identifying and

supporting candidates and elected officials who support LGBT equality and

working with them to promote LGBT-supportive public policy.

Music is a ethical law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the mind's eye, and appeal and joviality to life and to everything.
