Authorities say former Blue Springs man Todd Barkau did some sick, sick things to a 12-year-old girl. The 37-year-old allegedly raped the 12-year-old, trained her to be a dominatrix and prostituted her between January 2002 and February 2005.
That would be shocking enough, but then there's the 12-year-old girl's mother, who allowed Barkau to teach her daughter to be a dominatrix by participating in bondage, domination, sadism and masochism with the girl and then pimping her out to other men. Mom even watched her daughter perform with the men -- and got paid by Barkau. The mother isn't being named to protect the girl's identity.
When the girl turned 14, Barkau advertised her on the Internet as a 19-
to 20-year-old dominatrix. They called her Mistress Alisha, a name the
mother gave the girl -- it was the mother's name when she was a
stripper.
And the work was really dirty.
Prosecutors alleged that over a two year period Barkau sold the girl's services as "Mistress Alisha" to dominate men over the Internet as well as in person. The gory details: "This included ... bondage, beatings, burning and genital mutilation." Just like eBay, the men paid via PayPal and also with "tributes," giving a DVD player, a cappuccino machine and other electronics in lieu of cash.
The woman and Barkau pleaded guilty in federal court this week to charges of sex trafficking of the girl.
Barkau cut a deal to serve 25 years in federal prison. Mom gets 15 years.
The mother becomes the first parent ever to be charged with commercial sex trafficking of a blood relative.

To the person who said it took many many years to finally enjoy sex. You probably are just genetically predisposed to not enjoy sex. Two more years and waiting until you are 18 probably would not have made a difference. There are just women who can't seem to enjoy it. Tough shit.
The case is being charged as the prostitution of a minor and sex trafficking. Try looking up what sex trafficking means. Often cases of sex trafficking include the threatened or realized violence against the victim being forced to prostitute themselves. The child had no choice and her right to a childhood has been stripped away from her. Shame on you "LoneRanger" for even suggesting that this situation should be ok under any circumstance.
Mr LoneRanger needs to realize that the girl was brought into this by the adults. Even if she says she has sexual desire, the law says that she's not ready for it. And I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY agree. I lost my virginity at 16 and I STILL wish I would have waited I don't think I was ready and it took me many, many years to actually be able to enjoy sex! Imagine how much worse it could be for a 12 year old girl!
A 12 year old girl. The mother deserves more than 15 years. They are too light on these sentences with parents "pimping" out their children.
This is the kind of thing that gives the BDSM community a bad name. Thing is, this is totally against all rules of the lifestyle. Most people don't realize that.
This country is fucked up because everybody is terrified of sex. An underage person can be considered an adult if they choose to commit a crime so why can't they be considered an adult when they choose to have sex?
