A couple of gay slurs used by Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has the president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation calling for the NFL to punish the fading star, reports TMZ.

GLADD president Jarrett Barrio told TMZ:

"All too often this is the word that is used to ridicule and harass young gay and transgender athletes on local sports fields across America.

"Professional athletes who use this word need to be held accountable for feeding a climate of intolerance toward our community. NFL officials need to take action and condemn this and future uses of this anti-gay epithet."

On Sunday, Johnson took to Twitter to criticize Chiefs coach Todd Haley and argue with fans. When one person

criticized Johnson's poor play -- "Hey LJ, is it Haley's fault you fall when

D-Linemen blow on you?" -- Johnson wrote that the guy had a "fag pic."

The Kansas City Star
reported Monday that Johnson told reporters that he didn't want to talk until Thursday.

As the reporters left the locker room, Johnson reportedly whispered: "Get your faggot ass out of here."

Johnson's agent said the former Pro Bowler would apologize. He didn't say if LJ would mean it.

If a gay player had used the word nigger, the gay player would have been fired.
